Where was my Fault?

Good morning fellow psychonauts,
yesterday I had a very different trip, than the last times. I just want to know your opinion about what I did wrong.
So I had 28g wet truffles and I tried to make a tea out of it. From my experience ~28g (eaten) lead to a level 3 trip for me and I was expecting and hoping for a level 3 trip. But this trip was different, it took 90min till I experienced the first visual effects (patterns in my peripheral sight and everything breathed a tiny little bit) this held on for the next 2-3 hours. So it was just a level 1 trip
Maybe I did the tea the wrong way: I heated water to 60°C (I read that hotter temperatures can destroy the psilocybin) put fresh lemon juice and the truffles in and stir it for 10min. Then I added the tea bags and let it sit for another 15min and drank it. Was the temperature my fault?
The other possibility why this trip was so mild and recreational is, that I took 5-htp for the last 2 weeks. Maybe this was an issue?
I hope you can help me and give me advice for my next trip. Thank you guys

I dunno if the 5HTP causes an interaction or not...
that said, you can hard boil mush with zero percent fear of harming the psilocybin inside. I regularly hard boil them for a good twenty minutes and the tea is devastating and comes on in about a half hour
I imagine 60C for ten mins only is the problem. Especially if the truffles were brewed whole and not chopped up. Maybe truffles take a bit longer to brew because of the hard nature of stones versus fruit bodies? I have no experience of brewing stones personally, just throwing out conjecture
also, with tea you probably want to make the tea first, remove your bags, then add mush... so the tea bags are not taking up any of the water that already has psilocybin in it, however small an amount that may be, it all counts to the end result
gotta be the process, otherwise maybe your truffles are just level 1
all the best

I've read something here on The Shroomery that 5htp and shroomies docking on the same receptors in the body and therefore blocking each other...
So I have a few thoughts about the tea: Since psilocybin is water-soluble, cold water should work too, there is no heat needed, am I right here? Next time I put the truffles with lemon juice and already made tea (you made a good point, that the tea bags eventually soak the psilocybin water) in a blender and mix it for a few minutes, let it sit for at least 30min and after this filter it, so that no truffle-pieces are in the tea. Maybe this works better, somebody maybe already tried this? Especially with cold water?
Thank you for your help!

never tried cold water myself but the search engine will surely lead you to many people who have
it does supposedly work, like Stamets' blue juice ice shenanigans that people talk about
but the facts are that pretty much anything you want to extract is more soluble in hot solvent than cold solvent. Water is also a solvent
you can not boil water and harm any psilocybin (maybe if you boiled them for hours and hours). People deep fry them in batter at 180C and all sorts of shit and they still work
good luck man

Not hot enough to make tea.

Imma have to try some tea. I have always made a lemon tek if I wanted to completely become a worthless mass on the floor. Being a stone lover, wet or dry I would bust them stones up into smaller chunks and process into the tea.

I am no chemist, but I think cold water should work.
I like coffee, and cold brew is all the rage nowadays. So if you can brew cold coffee, you should be fine cold brewing mushroom tea.
Thing is, if coffee is brewed for about 4 minutes in hot water and you need about 24 hours for a cold brew, do you really want to experiment making cold mushroom tea? I know I don't. But if you do, please do a tek write-up.
And in an answer to OP, I have been following PrimalSoup's tea tek and having lots of fun with it, I suggest you follow that recipe, found in his signature
