Alice in chains (Specifically jar of flies) brings me to this place in me head, still, distant and serene.

I often wonder if it's what the afterlife is like. If there is one that is....
Don't Follow
Ooh, forgot my woman, lost my friends Things I'd done and where I've been Sleep in sweat, the mirror's cold See my face, it's growin' old Scared to death, no reason why Do whatever to get me by Think about the things I said Read the page, it's cold and dead

Great album. It used to be one of my sing-along CDs while driving alone back in the day.

Don't follow is a great tune on many levels. The first is, I think (at least in terms of Layne-era Alice in Chains) Jerry's vocal abilities go a bit overlooked. This song showcases what a great set of pipes the dude has. Then when Layne comes in, he brings with him that bluesy voice in which you can hear the shit that he's going through. It's two guys with a lot on their respective plates getting together and letting it out without any sort of major effects or anything. More like in a drum circle/jam session sense. I love the use of harmonica. It works to further that sort of folk-blues sound. Everything is approached in a lighter, more upbeat sort of way, even though the lyrics are heavy. The whole album is like that and I think that was the intent behind the album: to take a look at what's going on, but doing so in an easy-going, artistic way that pays homage to other great Seattle music. When I was younger, it took me a while to get into this album because I always liked the signature hard-driving Alice in Chains sound, but one day I heard "Rotten Apple" on the radio while I was driving and it knocked the wind out of me. After that I really got into it.

Quite true. I have always felt that way about his vocals with Mad Season.
