Monotub Temperature issues.

Hey, still in the research phase haven't taken the plunge to actually growing. Had a few questions - the method that I'm most interested in is the pressure cooker for the spawn and then pouring the substrate into a monotub and allowing the mushrooms to fruit there.
However most of the guides i've looked at have indicated that there are ideal temperatures that the tub should be at in order to ensure the appropriate humidity. I live in quite a cold climate - at night things can fall to 5 degrees Celsius, sometimes colder. I've seen people suggest a heating mat or something similar to avoid this problem. What if a grower was on limited electricity, wasn't connected to the grid and couldn't use a heating apparatus. Would this simply mean that it will take the mushrooms longer to fruit or would they just not fruit at all?
Is cultivation completely out of the question for cold climate without heating apparatus?
tldr - no mains electricity, cold outside, monotub, ideas?
Thanks.

cubensis are a tropical species, with that being said 40 degree temperatures are not going to work.

Despite being a fair weather variety, cubensis will grow in temperatures much lower than "ideal", albeit slowly. 12-13°C is probably what I would call the comfortable minimum. Slants will survive in cold storage to just above freezing, but that's obviously not fruiting conditions.

Where if you're alone, you know, you either come through it or you die, but in any case you avoid the fuss.'" - Terrence McKenna
