Hi folks,
This is my second ID request here. Last time I was hunting fake semilanceatas, now it is probably fake bohemicas. Stems look like they should (I think). The color of the caps is bit different than what I saw on other pictures, but one of them got some blue-ish stains in the meantime. They smell bit like radish. Gills are brown. What do you think?

Wow, those look cool, where on Earth were these found? Looks to be psilocybe but I'm unsure on species...

I'm thinking you've found Psilocybe serbica var. bohemica! I'm curious to see the TI opinions.

These are psilocybe serbica (also known as psilocybe bohemica or psilocybe moravica). Congrats!

The color of the caps is exactly as it should be. It can range all the way from dark caramel brown when they are wet, to lighter caramel brown (when they are young) all the way to extremely light brown (think of the color of cappuccino) when they are starting to dry (like that mushroom on the very right in picture 2). They can even turn a faint blue/green when dry. Sometimes some parts of the cap will dry before others, creating a mix of these colors. In picture 2 you can also see spore deposits on the 2 smaller mushrooms on the left that fell from the taller mushroom, which can also color the caps and make them dark purplish/brownish.
These are 100% psilocybe serbica (possibly var. bohemica but it doesn't really matter whether it's var. bohemica, var. moravica or var. arcana, genetically it's all the same mushroom).

I still remeber how excited I was when I found my first p. serbica 9 years ago. Now that you found these you know where they grow and trust me, there are a lot more of them out there and they will grow there year after year.
Would you be willing to share what country you found these in? If not, no problem.

Slovakia. Not sure if there is lot of them where I found them, because I only found those that are on the picture and it took me couple of hours haha. But maybe they just need more rain or something.

Nazdar bratku
I went on a hunt to my location 2 days ago and found a decent number of them. You can check out my thread/photos here if you want: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27023025/page/2
So they are definitely growing, although each location is different of course. Where I hunt, there is 1 specific section of the forest that's really filled with them. But in the rest of the forest they are quite rare to find. So it's possible you just haven't found the best spot yet.
Also, where I hunt, the best time for them is 2nd half of November once it gets even colder than now. You also want lots of rain. Last year I found a ton of them on November 29th. Pictures here if you're interested: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26351642
So they might be still just starting in your location, although I'd be surprised if you couldn't find more there even now. Remeber, it's a pretty rare mushroom, so finding the best spots takes time. You want to look at spots with lots of dead, decaying wood on the ground. They are also pretty tricky to find among the fallen leaves, so look carefully.

Servus! Svet je malý Great finds, it's really motivating to know that there is more somewhere. I was almost giving up. I did a lot of miles lately checking every piece of dead wood, looking under the leaves and so on. From your pictures it seems they are actually quite visible when they are there. So next time I will probably cover more area and won't focus too much on one place. Do you have only one location or more of them?

Yeah, finding the first one is always the hard part. When I first started looking for them 9 years ago, I went to the forest several times and spent hours and hours looking before finding my first one. I also had a really hard time finding them last year. Even though I knew exactly where to look for them, they just weren't growing. I went looking for them 7 times (it's a 1 hour journey by car to get to the forest from my house) and spent 2-3 hours at the forest each time and didn't find any. I was also ready to give up at that point but was ultimately rewarded by finding a ton of them at the end of November when they suddenly started growing like crazy. So it's all about the location and weather. You need to find where they grow and then be there at the right time.
Although they can be hard to spot, you don't really need to go to the extent of lifting up leaves and checking every piece of wood. I just slowly walk around the forest and keep my head down and I always spot them. If I see a spot that's ideal for them (like a big pile of dead branches) I stop and look a bit more carefully. But you want to cover as much distance as you can. Also, based on my experience they generally grow at the edge of the forest. I have also found some deeper in the forest, but my best spot is right at the entrance to the forest.
I only know of one specific location where they grow, but I know that they grow in many areas in the western part of Male Karpaty.
