14 days... still no pins!
    #26993174 - 10/19/20 03:08 PM (3 years, 3 months ago)

I spawned this tub 14 days ago, left at 24C;99% humidity.
Should i put it into fruiting conditions (more light/ FAE) now? Or wait till I see pins?

You can put them into fruiting conditions as soon as you spawn, so yes. You'll probably be getting pins pretty soon.

It's nearly ready, but I'd give it a few more days before introducing fresh air exchange.  It should be getting light, but keep the CO2 high.  Don't place in fruiting conditions until it's more colonized.  It looks like some hyphal knots forming.

Thanks - Ill go with ur advice ! How do I keep the CO2 high tho?
Hyphal knots meaning pins soon?

(Oh and it does get light, I just have a special scarf lightly cover it so theres less light than in fruiting)

To keep CO2 high, don't put it into fruiting conditions (don't provide FAE).
Though as Lenz said, folks have been experimenting for some time now and introducing fruiting conditions immediately after spawning with successful results. I've never tried it myself.

They look like hyphal knots, the white dots on your sub. They progress to become primordia, which grow into pins.

IMO, you're only potentially delaying pinning with that cover over it.

I'd let air exchange, cake looks good. i don't consider "fruiting" conditions, i use "growing" conditions all cycle times which includes passive fresh air exchange. it's your choice

Still not much progress. Now I am wondering if I should mist? Could this help pins form?
(Surface is not totally dry but there could be more water droplets)

misting will only be useful if you are allowing the moisture to evaporate with FAE (evap is the numero uno pinning trigger IMHO), otherwise you will just have things wet and be in the same place

I do it the old way too, colonize with a closed box then I give it 'fruiting conditions' when it is fully colonized. The newer method of immediate FAE also works good as the other fellas mentioned already

and give it the light regardless of what other choices you make, light is good for colonization and 14 days is certainly not that outside the bounds of normality that you should be so concerned. You may have read however many days on somebody's journal or whatever but there are tons of variables in this and some subs take longer than others

all the best

No!! is it contammed?
the only fruit seems to have regressed abit, and all the other pins still haven't come out...
What will happen to all of them? Can I at least hope for a decent first flush??

Give it more light and plenty of fresh air.  Mist to replace moisture that is lost to evaporation.  If the tub feels light, you can pour water around the edges to 'float' the substrate.  After a few hours, pour the excess water back out.  If you want to trigger a massive pinset at this point, place the tub in direct sunlight for an hour or two daily, with plenty of diffused light all day.

You can salt that patch and I like to put a folded paper towel down over the salt to soak up the flood of water. However I wouldn’t hope for much, the delay in pinning is often a result of trich and generally any pins that do develop in the face of trich are often weak and stunted...call em trich pins. The surface conditions are also terrible, I would suggest you look at other ways to dial the tub in and focus on clean spawn production. Axenic spawn will forgive much.

Should I just remove the lid so it gets all the FAE it needs?
It already gets a couple minutes of direct sunlight a day as its on the border of a west facing window.

So put some salt on the trich, and then a towel to soak the salt and moisture of the sub? what flood?
