So these PEA+ Subs have me scratching my head.. I expected to see at least one white pin by now.. all of them are putting out normal colored pins/fruits so far and they don’t act/look like PE or Aa+ lol.

I have an idea that the glc Grains might be mainly one culture or the other because of the small amount of grain being used, but the cakes are also putting out only regular looking fruits and straight SS was used for those so I thought for sure I’d see both PE and AA+ scattered at the inoc points.

There’s definitely PE pins on the cakes
And the mini is starting to pin at 11 days

I’m fairly confident that I mixed up swabs when I labeled them... they’re looking a lot like these weird melmac that I also did a double swab with PE. these are the weird melmac
.
Looking pretty similar there I’m not 100% quite yet but damn close and pretty upset with myself.. means the one marked PE x ? Is probably the PE/aa+. Welp.. lol. Maybe they’ll be super potent or something.. still haven’t tried the weird MM’s yet. So disappointed. Lol
On a good note, the spelt 16qt tubs are 100% and got cased tonight

No they’re mexicana.
Ok so I tend to spawn absolutely everything that totally colonizes the jar out of curiosity.
I spawned this

On 9/26. It didn’t seem to bother the myc at all which was weird and I just pulled the third flush off the tub with no sign of contamination yet.
I just thought that was interesting.
Also time for a new media bottle. So sick of stacks of plates doing this

Do you cultivate them the same way or is it more manure based? I've got one I hadn't bothered with as I thought it was a standard cube.

I was just reading through it. Gonna put some on agar today and give em a whirl. Delighted, I've got a couple of species of exotics now. You've pointed me in the right direction a couple of times. Thanks AKA

How would the media bottle be the blame? I'm just curious. I've had this happen when I was using a SAB but I thought it was due to the agar not being properly sterilized.

Working out this South African Transkei
Is that tomentose growth or bacteria? I can’t tell and I can’t get away from it YET. This is like 5 or 6 xfrs out.
This “albino Ecuador” that someone sent me is pinning....but tbh it reminds me a lot of Avery’s... this “AE” came from the same person that I got Avery’s spores from....hopefully these really are Ecuador and the potency kicks Avery’s ass. Ime and everyone else I’ve spoke to say the same thing; Avery’s lack in potency. It’d be pretty cool to have snow white boomers that are potent

I’m pretty sure the cap or neck is warped and sucks air in. Could be something else though.

OIC. Could be. I suspect that mine was contaminated agar so the same.

Is your drip ring secure? Warped or bent in any spots?
Fill it with water, tighten it, and turn it upside down on a counter. Leave it for a few hours to see if there is a slow trickle leak and if so then ya you may be right

I saw that and it made me worry about my fresh batch of broth.
I sealed the cap on my media bottle post pc, when I loosened it to drop a wedge I heard the vacuum break that formed during cool down, definitely sucked in a big gulp of air. This was done in front of the hood so I'm hoping that it's not an issue. I don't make enough LC to know if it even matter
Were you using those cheap Chinese bottles?

Blue Meanies shoebox day 3 since first signs of pinning 4 MSS brf cakes crumbled into 1 quart coir with a 0.5 quart coir "casing"
These jars were colonized in 2 weeks and have only been in this shoebox for 12 days! definitely the fastest colonizer I've worked with so far

My best pinset so far, from a JMF clone I took. I have 5 other shoeboxes that look just like this. Would have done a mono but they’re occupied by some PE I’m trying out

This was the mushroom I cloned
