I've said it before and I'll say it again. I fucking hate customs they break everything... Just got my HEPA to build a flow hood and the filter has a tear in it.. is there anyway to repair this... Will a dab of silicone work?? https://imgur.com/a/fcQw9bK

Anyone?? Good news is I got a refund and get to keep the filter! Bonus!! So anyone have any insight as to if silicone would seal it? Its not a big tear or anything its only a small little hole torn, most of it is just bent inwards with a bit of a tear, The silicone should in theory stop stuff from being able to creep through that hole right? and to be extra safe i could always just keep my work from in front of that exact spot, right? its off to one side at least and not in the centre or anything really bad like that.

I would not worry much about that. I have one similar and regularly pour 500-1000 plates without a single contaminated one.

Thats really not that bad of a dent, your filter will still work as advertised but you can try to do some minor patch work on it with some super glue or something. You could just leave it alone, I put a grate over my filter so I don't damage it while working but still get clean air across my work area.
The aluminum (I think thats what they are made of) filters,I thought I heard people say they can kind of mold back into place. Like Smart said you should be good in whichever route you take.

If really worried, just neatly fold a strip of tape lengthwise and conform it to the pleat. You wouldn't even be able to see it. Plus the filter media itself can be kind of "sculpted" back to shape.

Thanks guys, i ended up just carefully dabbing some silicone on there with a Qtip. And the hole was actually poked through the filter not just a dent, thats why i was worried if it was a dent i wouldn't of cared.
