Tell me about the comforting beliefs...

...that you either want to be true, or want to feel deeply are true, so that you can live your life as if they were true (which might liberate you from current patterns or negative mental obscurations holding you back).
I'll start.
"Suffering is illusory and if it's bad, its badness is infinitely inverse of the goodness that will be experienced later on."
"The harms you've inflicted on others in the past were the result of the stage of your development of consciousness, not the result of you being a fundamentally bad, weak, and/or irredeemable person."
"As you get older, you'll get healthier, wiser, the edges of your life and mind will be smoothed, all the good will get better, and it'll keep getting better and better forever."
"You will know deep love, comfort and peace."
"You deserve the respect, admiration and love of others."
"When you die you get to experience what it's like to be anyone or anything - your former lover, your childhood self, a cicada, a whale, a deep sea volcano, an ecosystem, a galaxy, anything."
"If you go in the direction of your passion and visions, the universe or the guiding force behind life will help you."
"All is goodness, all is light, all is truth, all is peace, all is infinite love."
-------------------- “Strengthened by contemplation and study, I will not fear my passions like a coward. My body I will give to pleasures, to diversions that I’ve dreamed of, to the most daring erotic desires, to the lustful impulses of my blood, without any fear at all, for whenever I will— and I will have the will, strengthened as I’ll be with contemplation and study— at the crucial moments I’ll recover my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Another one:
"The planet can heal itself without wiping out human life."
-------------------- “Strengthened by contemplation and study, I will not fear my passions like a coward. I want reincarnation to be true, but it's cool if it's not true. I want to fly but I'm too weak and heavy, I'll watch birds and delight when a butterfly lands on my hand. I want to be awakened more than not so, and I work towards it. I want to see the spirit in you, and that is awakening too.

I certainly do.

no, yeuchh.
messianic identities are too much labor and entanglements. I dreamed I was skating without any wheels (just slippery shoes) down a smooth spiraling rock surface into a huge but slightly crowded subterranean public transportation hub. I woke before colliding with a wall or baby carriage

Yeah, I noticed the two h's but you're way too deep for me.
buddy boyo oh boy do I want to get inside your brain maybe not maybe
Today when walking in the woods I saw the father (I guess it was) of his son and I think the son had Down's syndrome and after I walked past them I had such an urge to go to the son and tell him something really positive to lift his spirits to the sky. But they didn't look my way so it might have been bad timing. Be brave you told me but I was just a little slow inside my brain to react. I might do it next time if it feels right - which it should.
Considering what I've done in my life doing such a thing is piece of cakes but I SO SO SO do not want the son to feel like I'm picking him out.
Luv ya,RödaGrönaViners!

I'm not really fond of beliefs, especially if they're overly mystical. I guess the one comforting belief I entertain is that generally, things will turn out better than the negative thought patterns suggest.
I also acknowledge this is not 100% assured for every thing. But having lived a few years it's generally been true that worst case scenarios don't usually happen.
So that's a big component of my positive mindset and I've learned not to let the negative affect me as much on an emotional level. There's a good feeling in my heart that's always there for me these days as long as I don't cover it up with fears and desires.

That intuition knows what it is doing. That it isn’t (at least completely) a blind and wild irrational dance that pats itself on the back.

No offence to the OP, but I remember a time when this post would have been moved immediately to S and M (rip Diploid).
A comforting belief, from determinism.
"It couldn't have been any other way".
Amor Fati!
Free will makes you think it could have been different had you chosen differently, but in determinism you just do what you were programmed to do.

I like to believe that common sense is not some useless appendage of a bygone age, but is actually a valid compass. In our postmodern times, and with things like the Copenhagen interpretation in physics, many believe that common sense is just a quaint illusion that is no longer pertinent to addressing reality.
In my opinion, common sense and common decency are two of the very best things. So I believe, despite my acknowledgment of the above, that common sense still holds, and is priceless.

Nice. Powerful stuff right there.
