subaeruginosa? North of Auckland
    #27022544 - 11/05/20 03:16 AM (3 years, 2 months ago)

It's spring in New Zealand and we've had some rain and humidity this past two weeks. Last weekend I mowed the lawn. Five days later these shrooms have come up. These look like subaeruginosa to me but I'm a new to this so that's why I'm here asking about it.

Habitat: Lawn, in an area surrounded by Tea Tree (Kanuka). Incidentally last summer, I cut a lot of firewood (Kanuka) on this lawn and there was a considerable amount of sawdust around. This has now been grown over by grass but maybe the shrooms have benefitted from this. I've seen mushrooms like this growing directly on the trees before so perhaps some spores have been spread around a bit.

Gills: Pinky Brown

Stem: Most are white to light brown. No more than 5mm in diameter.

Cap: Brown

Location: 40km North of Auckland, New Zealand

If these are good to go, what's my next step? Dry them out in the hot water cupboard?

Yep. It does look like it. That's a bit disappointing. Thanks

You're not very likely to find P. subaeruginosa at this time of year.
According to observations on http://mushroomobserver.org and posts on this on this forum, you
can't expect them to start fruiting before March - April.
