Too bad it's not for recreational use. A recreational user who is caught with mushrooms will still go to prison. I can do my own fucking therapy with mushrooms I don't need to waste money on a psychedelic therapist.

Check measure 110 which reclassifies simple possession of scheduled drugs (not manufacture or delivery) to become:
Quote:
(3) It is unlawful for any person knowingly or intentionally to possess a controlled substance unless the substance was obtained directly from, or pursuant to a valid prescription or order of, a practitioner while acting in the course of professional practice, or except as otherwise authorized by ORS 475.005 to 475.285 and 475.752 to 475.980. Any person who violates this subsection with respect to: (a) A controlled substance in Schedule I, is guilty of a Class [A misdemeanor] E violation, except as otherwise provided in ORS 475.854, 475.874 and 475.894 and subsection (7) of this section. (b) A controlled substance in Schedule II, is guilty of a Class [A misdemeanor] E violation, except as otherwise provided in ORS 475.824, 475.834 or 475.884 or subsection (8) of this section. (c) A controlled substance in Schedule III, is guilty of a Class [A misdemeanor] E violation. (d) A controlled substance in Schedule IV, is guilty of a Class [C misdemeanor] E violation. (e) A controlled substance in Schedule V, is guilty of a violation.
IOW the psilocybin tea in my freezer, of which I am only in possession of at this time, just became a class A misdemeanor, not a felony.
Why I posted both measures totals - doubted 110 would pass but there it is, first in the nation.

It sounds like, unless you're caught with more than a half ounce, you'll actually just get a small fine. If you're growing though, that's probably a different story.

Sadly no, that must be someplace else. Growing will obviously take somewhat longer (gazes out the window at weed plant growing in back yard...)

Yeah that's how I read it. But it minimizes the risk if you grow in batches, because there appears to be no limit on the simple possession without intent to distribute.
And it takes enforcement away even further.

no, they've just made it the lowest priority. i've just read that congress prohibited D.C from decriminalizing or legalizing any schedule 1 substances. what a cockblock. congress has no business doing that with any state, D.C or no. Cannabis should of been legal in the capital of the whitehouse imho.

It still needs to survive both city council (probably) and congressional review (probably not). Assuming it gets past those hurdles, our trash fire of a mayor who hates everyone that isn't rich or a real estate developer is on record as not supporting it so no one really knows what that means in terms of enforcement.
