Thanks zerohero,
That was very nice of you to say.
I just fugure, there are all kinds of threads like this for Cubes but nothing like this for Mexicana... too bad, newbies would love Mexicana if they only knew about it. You can do everything you can do with Cubensis, AND you can grow sclerotia... which yields WAY better than invitro cubes... sclerotia is the easiest tek ever. No verm, no poo, no straw, no bit=rthing, no terrarium... get the idea?
Mexicana is a joy to work with and it is simple. Easier than cubes... except for fruiting. Fruiting will test your patience... but like Workman says, if you can fruit Pan Cyans, you can fruit Mexicana A.
The other Mexicana strains, Mexicana B and Jalisco are supposedly very easily fruited. If you can get cubes to fruit indoors, you should be able to get Mexicana B or Jalisco to fruit.
I'm not so sure about Tampenesis

Great thread. Mex A has always been high on my want list, but have never wanted to fork over the money. I will have to get over that. Your pictures and log really help with the decision.

Updated today with pics of the WBS jar harvest.
45 wet grams total. I will post dry weight but it is safe to assume around 15g dry for a pint of WBS.
Not bad, but I expected more... looked like there would be. Ultimately the WBS jar did worse than most of the rye grass seed jars.

Weekly update... last weeks pics have been replaced with hi-res versions.
No new pics today... no need for more photos in the log until Don gets pins.
Dry weight from the WBS jar was 20g... 25% higher than it should have been.
The WBS jar must've become too dry.

I promise... if any prints come my way, I will spread them around... but I imagine I won't have shitloads... so if you want some... be sure to PM me once you hear Don has Mexicana A prints. PMing me before he gets prints is pointless... several folks have already tried but I've made no promises for two reasons.
1. I don't have ANY prints yet... keep your fingers crossed for Don... even if he gets shrooms, that is no guarantee they will print. Mexicana A is a fickle printer when it is fruited indoors.
2. I can't keep track of everybody who wants a print.
So... after I get prints, PM me and I will give them out on a first come first served basis.
That said, www.sporeworks.com is having a RARE sale on their Mexicana spores this month (May, 2004). So if you want to guarantee yourself some Mexicana A spores and get a good price, contact Sporeworks before the month is over.

Update, the casing got a couple small spots of green but more was on the way so Don killed the casing to harvest. He found TONS (well ounces) more sclerotia than he expected. No wonder this casing didn't pin. It was producing BIG stones (and he he got a golfball!) ... I think the casing just ran out of fuel. It was inoculated on 1-15-04 died 5-19-04. RIP little casing.
This log will be on pause until Don gets a casing to pin, or he does something new... like cloning sclerotia tissue, or rehydrating dry sclerotia.
Expect it to be a while before further updates.
This log is complete... until Don gets Mexicana A to pin, then he will resume where he left of.
