Harvesting question help
    #27020347 - 11/03/20 09:30 PM (4 years, 2 months ago)

I know these aren’t ready for harvest yet. You can see all the smaller mushrooms growing around the big ones. I think if I pinch and twist the bigger more mature mushroom (when they are ready)  it will take the smaller ones with it like a cluster. If I cut the big ones with a scalpel so, it’s only the big ready to be one. Will the other ones grow fuller? Or is it just a cluster that needs to be picked?

For the example just left of center, I've tried cutting the big one, and the little guy never catches up. Generally they abort as the bigger stem degrades.  Now I just twist the big one off, and if the little guy comes, he comes.

Your efforts are better directed in maximising the overall tub.  And, of course, growing more.

I disagree. The little ones generally keep growing (for me) unless they were already aborting. It takes a minute to recognize abortion in it's earlier stages.

OP you fruits are a little premature. You can harvest whenever you want. If you want them to stay nice and purdy once dry, don't let them open up too much. At least wait for the veil to begin to separate though. Otherwise you're just cutting yourself out of a little more magic. If you don't care how they look once dry, just let them open up and grab them before they shit spores everywhere.
