First attempt at PFTek-doesn't look good

OK, this is my first attempt at any type of grow. I used the PFTek but got a little ahead of myself and may have fucked up.
First off I couldn't find the 8 oz. mason jars because of the COVID situation, so I had some 4 oz and tried those and I believe I put too many spores in as well.
Anyway, the mycelium growth looked good. I birthed 4 of them, soaked overnight, rolled in Vermiculite and placed in fruiting chamber. Kept up with misting and fanning. Had one cake that produced one mushroom about 4" and nothing else. It looked like it dropped it's spores as well so I picked that one. Had another produce maybe 4 very small mushrooms and again, dark substance underneath. They started to wilt so I picked those as well.
The other cakes, and the two that did produce, are not appearing to do anything. They have been in the fruiting chamber for 3 weeks.
Here are some pics. The last pic is of a new batch, looks weird.

I'd say youre doin alright. those are small cakes so dont expect a huge amount of mushrooms from them.
Does your FC have holes on the bottom as well? make sure there is a chance for water to evaporate off the surface, i think thats a good pinning trigger. Also have heard that a little bit of sunlight can help pinning.
after 3 weeks those little cakes might need another dunking.

Thanks for the info.
Yes, my FC does have holes in the bottom.
And yes, you are correct. The first 4 cakes were dried out. I soaked em overnight and I'm going to put them back in today.
I started a couple more cakes yesterday, with the correct size and amount of spores. I'm going to try a few bags of Uncle Ben's as well.

skip the uncle bens if you want to save yourself some heartache and a few bucks man, it is highly unreliable
focus on nailing the PF. It works almost every time with a high degree of success. You are already succeeding at it to at least some degree with less than optimal materials. You grew some mush at least

Thanks. I've been hearing the same from others. I am going to continue with PF but am also going to branch out with other techniques. With COVID out of control, and lock downs inevitible, this will be my new hobby.
