Suggestion: Word Cap for Replies

I think when making a thread you should be able to decide how many words replies can have.
The reason I'm posting this here is because I think this place would benefit from it the most and is the only place on this website where its really needed. That I go to anyway.
Some people make these long posts where they meander like a kid trying to fill a page in English class so their post is so long (and often full of so much bullcrap, pardon my french) that nobody even wants to read it let alone type out a reply to it. then they think they won when the only thing they might win is the prize for the longest post
I wouldnt make the cap super low. but I dont think many people want to read a 500 word essay and reply to it for each exchange in a conversation. Who has time for that? It would depend on the thread though of course.
quotes from other posts in the thread shouldnt count toward the word count. People would just get around it by making more posts in many cases im sure. but hopefully they will at least break it down by subject matter and give smaller chunks to reply to.
Idk just thinking out loud. What do you guys think? Would you use the feature if it existed?

I don't agree with the idea. It's not for an OP to decide what follows on from their OP.
-------------------- Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not. --Jac O'keeffe

well I mean derailing is frowned upon. so is flaming in a place which doesn't allow it.
Its not like there are no parameters for an acceptable response.

You're talking about bad manners. Limiting the amount of characters a reply can have isn't gravy IMO.

Fair enough if you dont like it.
The purpose of staying on topic is to get to the bottom of the topic of the thread, ensuring post arent unreadable has the same goal.
one could argue its not considerate to the reader to post a 500 word essay in a thread thats supposed to be about getting to the bottom of a specific topic presumably.
