Question for BRF jars with Tyvek
    #27017657 - 11/02/20 02:37 PM (3 years, 2 months ago)

Hi there,
This is my first post here.I hope some of you can answer my question.

I inoculated 12 brf jars on the 6th of october and we’re now the 2nd of November and they are still colonizing very slowly. Most are around 90% at the moment and some are probably more around 80-85%. Those at 90% do have mycelium growing at the bottom of the jars, but those at 80ish% don’t .so I can’t tell if it’s because of Co2. Also, no signs of contam visible to the eye. Can’t say if the substrate could be too dry since I did not make it myself. The jars are stored in the dark in my locker at 25 degree celsius (77 F), the strain is B+.

The thing is I bought pre-made BRF jars with injection ports from a website (which i regret doing) because they arrived late and with no dry verm layer on top but with a piece of Tyvek under the ring of the lid which makes it impossible for me to see If there are any holes for gas exchange.

My question is, do you think there is anything I can do to speed up the process ? Could I flip them over ? would that be stupid ? Does it even matter since they are almost completely colonized ?

Thanks a lot for your help,

You should let them ride and see where it goes. For the next time make your own jars. I made some cakes with a fucking whisky glass and a lid made with foil with 4 holes to inject the inocculant and works great. Like this https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26999245/page/1, That's as simple as i could do it lol

If any of the said above is incorrect, please correct me! Still learning here and constructive criticism is the best
