Question about fairy rings
    #27017029 - 11/02/20 08:17 AM (4 years, 2 months ago)

I would like to know if these are considered fairy rings. If so how do I prevent this from happening? This is my second monotub and both have produced these groups of mushrooms instead of a nice blanket. http://url=http://files.shroomery.org/files/20-45/432986352-1102200709a.jpg][/url]

Those are clusters or whatever you want to call them.

A fairy ring is in nature and to my knowledge is an indication of  an existing mycorrhizal relationship with a tree that is no longer there. You wouldn't get a fairy ring of psilocybes unless you planted them that way

Yea those are clusters. I’m also on my first mono tub and I have patches of clusters also:

I’m also trying to achieve a full blanket like you said. My friend told me to keep the substrate and spawn colonizing with no gas co2 exchange holes. Wait till you have a nice pin set then put your tub into fruiting with FAE.  I have another tub colonizing so I’m gonna try what he said. I’ll let you know how it works out if you are interested.

Thank you for responding and the extra knowledge.
I am most definitely interested in the outcome of your future tub. I love that I found someone that is at the same level as I. I wish I knew someone else that grows around me to get 1 on 1 help. If you don't mind maybe we can keep each other informed on new information or experiences.

Definitely that sounds great. Send me a pm so we can start our own thread. I’m addicted to this hobby since my successful grows. I’m always wanting to share photos, info, different teks and ect with other growers. I’m trying to achieve a tub like some of the people where you can’t see the surface of the tub because it’s covered from fruits and caps. We will get there if we keep learning and tweaking our methods. But congrats bro. 1st tub and it’s a success. Have you ever done BRF cakes?
