Grain -inoculation question
    #27017124 - 11/02/20 09:24 AM (4 years, 2 months ago)

So i'm looking for a bit of advice...

Usually I inoculate about 2cc of spore solution into a grain bag (size 1lb), wait to colonise, mix it up, then go to bulk with unmodified monotubs.

Maybe i've been lucky so far along this process, as i've had no snags.

This time I inoculated 4 x 1lb bags with about 2cc of solution.  (Cambodian Gold).

Its been almost 2.5 weeks and there is no sign of life in any of the 4 bags...

For the first 1.5 weeks, I was away, so my house was probably a bit cold.  That's the only thing i can think of...?

But ive been keeping them nice and warm for at least a week and still nothing yet.

So, what to do?  Keep waiting?

Or start again?

If i start again, should  I use the same grain bags and just re inject them?

I was thinking about getting in touch with the spore supplier, as ive not used them before. Maybe they are duff spores?  All looked legit though in the syringe

Thanks!

Do not reuse the same grains. If you got the spores from a shroomery approved vender they are legit. How cold is your house? How are you keeping them warm? When it doubt keep waiting. This hobby will teach you patience. Did you put 2cc in each bag or 2 cc across 4 bags?

In the mean time learn how to make jars. https://www.mushroomvideos.com/BRF-Pf-Tek ;     Great site to check out.

I would recommend staying away from premade stuff in the future. The more DIY the better in my book.

Spores can take like 2 or 3 weeks to wake up and then another 2 or 3 weeks to fully colonize.
