I assume youβre not in the states. If you are how did you go about plugging it in?

I made and poured my first batch of Agar two days ago now and left them infront of the flow hood unwrapped for an hour or more and left 3 fully open to test for contamination,so far none of the plates have any sign of contamination and look surprisingly clear I will post a photo when i get home.
How long is it recommended to wait with plates after pouring to make sure they are all clean?
Thanks and Merry Christmas to you all !

Here are my first batch of petri dishes on the third day. No contamination so far. Will be pouring more and i think i need to alter my wrapping technique as the parafilm has cracked a couple of days after wrapping.

I prefer glad cling wrap. It's cheaper, get's the same job done, is easier to work with and doesn't have a moisture content.
Parafilm cracks if it has been left unsealed and dries out. It may crack for other reasons (like stretching's too tight) but I don't really know because I don't use it. Looks like you didn't stretch it tight though.

Thanks ill try that if the problem persists.
I poured more plates today and put swabs onto two of the plates that looked the cleanest. I also made some LC (dextrose and water) to have ready and sterilized some water to have on hand if needed.

Here is the second batch i poured. These came out crystal clear and no condensation after following D3s Perfect Transfers and Agar Tek. !
I took five plates and left them with the lids off infront of the flowhood to check for contamination rate etc.

Nice. Looks like things are going well.

What do you mean? Fresh plates are either clean or not clean.

Because i was impatient and only waited 4 days after pouring to add the swabs to the agar so their could be potential contamination there but hopefully not.. They are all clean looking just some from the first batch have a bit of condensation.
