Whats next?
    #2680327 - 05/14/04 10:08 PM (19 years, 11 months ago)

We live in  an age of extremes. From Hummers to houses, bigger is 'better'. This thrive of culture will continue until all means are met. As time goes on, we notice older generations of people dying off trying to pass what wisdom they had onto us, and new generations take birth and continue to mold the Earth and its culture. The killer of my generation will be misinformation, misguidance, and lack of focus on all parts except self pleasure... If this rate continues, what will be the killer of the next generation? and the next? and the next? and the next? and the next?, and most importantly, what new age of life will arise from our deaths and if we are this misguided now, how can the furture be bright?    :lipsrsealed:

It all comes down to conditioning. We are domesticated primates. We have a higher spiritual nature and a lower animal nature. There is a civil war going on in every one of us at every moment as to which will prevail. Every major religion began as a genuine spiritual movement that put the people of that time and place in touch with the divine element in all of us. Over time each movement became corrupted. By people. And other people transmitted that corruption to their children and their children passed it on to their children and so on..

People don't question the beliefs they are given. They allow their ethics to be spoon-fed to them by their parents while they dance and play then work and sweat for the crumbs dropped from the table of their corporate pay masters. Any momentary awakening from the spell cast upon them is dismissed as "unrealistic", a "pipe dream", an "hallucination". Most people roll over and go back to sleep. Stay awake.

Society is a trap set for you before you were even born.

The way out is the way IN. Jesus said, "The kingdom of heaven is within." After his death his teachings were diluted and twisted into meaning a physical kingdom will be established on Earth so that his followers could inherit power. This entire planet Earth is ruled by physical power, not spiritual power. Just look at the leaders in business, politics, and even religion. They tend to be large white men over six feet tall. The threat of physical force underlies the majority of our behavior as a society. Make trouble and a a large cop will throw you in prison.

This world is a test, a spiritual school. We transcend the physical and move on to the spiritual by going within. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try to improve society at large. Just that we should be realistic and realize that transformation of the world may not happen any time soon. Do what you can.

Think globally. Act locally.
When higher awareness reaches critical mass, society can be transformed.

It's part of nature. If we have really fucked up, and I believe we have, we will die off. It sounds like a good plan to me

a good plan to you? how does dying a horrible and toxic death sound good to you?... Nature is 'pure'... humans are 'nature' only by biology so dont get that mixxed up with behavior.. human behavior is FAR from Natural, and it is that which worries me

---complete fucking bollocks mate. Humans are a product of nature, everything we do, and could possibly ever concieve of doing is just as natural as an owl spreading its wings.

"growing plants is natural"

brother, you need to check your knowledge base, because you are making some really silly assumptions. Growing plants is just as unnatural as genetic engineering, hit the books.

Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience.
It isn't more complicated than that.
It is opening to or recieving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is,
without either clinging to it or rejecting it.

"complete fucking bollocks mate. Humans are a product of nature, everything we do, and could possibly ever concieve of doing is just as natural as an owl spreading its wings. "

yes and no. Its true that humans are flesh and blood just like the animals, but the common definition of nature is simply everything outside the kingdom of man. Therefore humans are indeed 'unnatural' by definition.

Dictionary Definition: "The world of living things and the outdoors: the beauties of nature.
A primitive state of existence, untouched and uninfluenced by civilization or artificiality."

-----and I say that is evidence of mans' inability to think objectivly. "Civilization" is no more unnatural than a beaver dam. We elevate ourselves above and beyond nature and then create a word to indicate this contrived attempt to make ourselves alien to our own surroundings.

whenever people start to say things like

"spilling millions of gallons of oil into the ocean causing the complete destruction on an entire ecosystem for miles around it is Natural?!"

I always like to point out that oxygen's release by blue-green algae killed off all life on the planet earth, more thoroughly than humans are currently capable. Oxygen is a deadly poison. Puts things in perspective eh?

yeah but were sentient arent we? concious beings?
so we dont have the excuse of mindlessness to justify our destruction of the worlds ecosystems and species.

I hope you arent saying this is a good means to justify your own death. If that be the case, than i think we can witness something extra ordinary... someone admitting their own lack of caring for other people .

So we talk about the need for biodiversity... and y ou wonder why... Well, without biodiversity... other parts of the food chain start to... lets say, fuck up. When that happens, farmers lose crops, or maybe they will lose their cattle. One species may grow rampantly effecting other species, in turn causing havoc among our precious little system.

More importantly, is the need to develop and sustain an environment that will be beneficial for us and for our offspring... why? BEcause our selfish drives make it so we can populate the planet. Be the dominant species of course!

Whats next? Lets look at whats going on now, then you will see whats next.

Urban Sprawl? Dependancy on fossil fuels? Continuing pollution?

Maybe something like a new plague, will come and wipe a whole bunch of people out. Maybe it will save some lives in the long run.

so we kill off all the pretty animals, so what? its all aethetics, other species, like...giant mutant cockroaches for example, will climb up and take their place. Its evolution baby!!! the pandas have had their day in the sun.

anyways, im sure by the time we kill of all of the teddy bear species we will have the ability to bring them back through genetic engineering, although,....they may come back hideously deformed, super intelligent and hell bent on revenge.
