This morning's haul (about 2 hours, in two locations). 80g total, wet.
45g Allenii 35g Cyans
I only harvested about 1/3 of what was growing. Really looking forward to going back over the next couple days.

QFT. I've ridden my bike around 15+ miles hunting, only to find them within 2 blocks of my house on the way home.

Had to cross town today to pick up a package I drove the scenic route through the Presidio in SF and stopped at a lawn that I've seen lots of Agaricus sp fruiting in, so I know it has some good mushroom conditions.
There was a dried out patch of Leratiomyces ceres in the grass but mixed were some very small cy's.
I wonder if they were stunted from sub par conditions or their genetics kept them small?

Seriously, all. Don't bother driving more than 15 minutes from your house. I would bet good money that if you scoured 3-4 different publicly maintained areas over the next couple days, you'll find at least one flush, if not multiple.
This year is shaping up to be the best harvest I've ever seen. Exciting!

So I went to the bank this morning.. I briefly glanced at the landscaping on my way in. Then on my way out I had the urge to look left, so I did. I laughed out loud to myself! Security was pretty hot right out front, so I decided to go back inside to ask permission to look around. I told my bank teller that I like to study fungi, and that there were some unique species out front. She was amused and told me it was cool to pick em. Nice lady.

I agree, when I first started hunting I drove up to golden gate park and San Francisco. Ironically the first patch I found was 15 minutes from my house in the south peninsula. Found my biggest patch yet today at a local school, again only 10 minutes away. Am hoping I can do egg carton tek with some stem butts to start some new local spots, although the mycelium has died on cardboard every year I’ve tried.

hey, nice finds. you should go back to the bank and ask the teller to turn the sprinklers on more often and for longer.
i got caught by a security guard two nights ago for bringing my own garden hose onto private property to water some patches. i told her i was watering some mushroom patches. she didn’t call the cops of course, but told me not to do it again. I’ll go back for the harvest at some point.
Heres pics of two patches from today. I didnt get photos of the other two patches.

Myco, that's awesome the bank was cool with you taking pics and harvesting. And great find lurker. The image of someone getting caught with a hose watering mushroom patches is pretty damn funny.
Here's a new patch in Berkeley from today. Not many, but they're lookers for sure. I've been checking this spot the past two years, but it hasn't produced until now, as far as I know.

I usually roll around on an old cruiser board when scouting out new planters. It's super efficient but also makes for a great alibi when trespassing. "Oh what's that?? I'm just skating around.. Uhh yeah sure I'll go skate somewhere else." Works every time!
I wasn't planning on hunting today, but after making a withdrawal from the bank earlier (pun intended) I decided to go back out. I started out where I left off on Sunday, and was stoked to find a familiar patch pushing up new fruits just around the corner. I grabbed a handful and left the rest to mature.

Later on I spotted these guys from across the street! My photos don't to justice, these allenii were BIG. Pretty sizable haul too. Hard to believe things are so prolific despite a severe lack of rain around here. If you haven't been out yet, get on it!

Also, only a few years ago I used to drive an hour up north to pick a couple handfuls of mushrooms from Richmond. The following year I found my largest patch to date, just a few blocks away from home. It hasn't fruited since a major re-landscaping job took over, but definitely look around your local zones. No need to drive far at all. 90% of my patches are within 20 minutes from home. Happy hunting.

Wow, lot's of great looking finds out there!
I found these right in front of my office. A few pop up every year in the irrigated grass next to some old tree roots. It's not much but at least it is something!

Those almost resemble azurescens, beautiful finds everyone. makes me wish I knew about woodloving actives before moving away from the bay. Blessed to be in the PNW now though so it’s all gravy. Looking forward to seeing all your finds and hopefully I can give a couple of my buddies down in Cali some tips leading to their first find. God bless and don’t forget to bring some trash bags out while hunting to knock out two birds with one stone.🤙

I went back to the same spot I went to last time. I found a lot more in the same area. It really showed me how camouflaged these things can be. In one spot alone I filled an entire gallon ziplock bag with Allenii. I got Over 4.5 ounces dried from my two hunting trips. On a side note, I found a smaller patch of several psilocybe’s that looked different from the Allenii. The smaller ones had a flatter Carmel cap, and the 5-6 bigger ones all had a wavy cap. I know I found some Allenii that have these characteristics, but usually I would just see One or two like that. Basically I’m wondering if that was a small patch of cyans. I was too happy hunting to take pictures. I can take some close up pictures of them dried if need be though.

Damn Dandurn777 thats a haul! All I see are allenii in the pics no Cy's.
I do see a lot of pins though, you should leave the pins so they can get bigger and thus more potent and also so they have time to sporulate. In the case that you are sharing the patch leaving the small ones is also good educate.
Cutting them with some small scissors is a good way of preserving the patch too. I cary these with me they are spring loaded so its super fast and easy to clip them. Sometimes its impossible not to pull myc up or a butt from time to time but I either bury it there or transplant it.
I got the scissors from a sewing supply store it was years ago but it was a 10pack for like $8. I think they call them thread snips or something.

You’re right. I should’ve left the pins, but I didn’t know if I’d be able to go back anytime soon because of some upcoming family stuff and its also an hour hour drive to the location. Consequently, I somewhat greedily collected as many as I could this second time. I actually did use scissors and left pins the first time 😆, and should’ve done that the second time as well. Unfortunately, I forgot the scissor at home. I did use some ziplocks to collect wood chips on to hopefully create my own allenii bed. I have the perfect shaded spot, and was synchronistically just delivered two free and clean loads of oak tree mulch. I’m hoping I can just dump the chips in my flower bed, cover them with more wood chips and water. Maybe next year I’ll have my own Allenii’s fruiting!!! That’s the goal anyways! If I do find time to go back, I’d like to look for other areas. It was so awesome to find these after looking all over last year and coming up empty. Unlike most of you guys in the Bay Area/coastal I’ve scoured my local area last year and found zero actives. I will continue to look around as I’m out and about, but I don’t ha e much hope.

This is the first patch I have ever found. I was hunting and only finding dry, un-irrigated wood chip areas and was about to turn home when I discovered a long, irrigated stretch of chips in front of an office building. I first saw some other mushrooms and started to feel discouraged, when I looked to the left and saw this patch looking straight up at me. Funny how things go sometimes.. cheers to everyone for the encouraging finds getting my ass out to hunt!
