Hey..after many mornings of searching i have found these. They were found on bark chips in a garden next to a beach in christchurch, new zealand. they are pretty small and its a pretty shitty pic sorry but its the best i can get the crap camera to do.
they are a wee bit eaten by something and on the stem where its been eaten its gone the same orange as the cap.
What ya rekon?

it is pretty much imposible for someone to idetify those just by the picture. Read the sticky post at the top of this forum and repost with more information.

Hard to tell but my guess would be Stropharia Aurantiaca from those reddish caps. They are a good indicator mushroom, meaning you're probably looking in the right places at the right times. But if they are aurntiaca they aren't active.
good luck - @cro

I'm gonna do it again...
II. Accurate mushroom descriptions
It is critical that you describe mushrooms fully and accurately in order to get a proper identification.
A good picture of the mushrooms is invaluable.
Along with the pictures (if possible), please include the following:
a. Habitat (where [state/province/country] and what does it grow on) b. Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc) c. Measurements of cap and stem. d. Characteristics of the stem (color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc) e. Characteristics of the cap (color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc) f. Spore print color (very important!) g. Color that the mushroom bruises h. Scent of mushroom

Cant do sorry
Along with the pictures (if possible), please include the following:
a. Habitat (where [state/province/country] and what does it grow on)
Christchurch, Canturbery, New Zealand, growing on wood chips b. Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc)
they are whte gills and are attatched c. Measurements of cap and stem.
The biggest one is about 2.5cm Cap, and 4-5cm stem. The smallest is 1cm cap and 3cm stem
d. Characteristics of the stem (color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc)
The stem is white, with patches of dark browny on it where it has been damaged. Its thich at the bottom, about 1cm, and aboiut .5 at the top. It is solid
e. Characteristics of the cap (color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc)
The cap is brown and very smoth. it gets very thin at the edges and is quite uneven in shape.
f. Spore print color (very important!)
Just doing in will post later with it
g. Color that the mushroom bruises
Brown
h. Scent of mushroom
Quite a strong bitter smell. Smells like the white button mushrooms you buy at stores.
Apologies for my stupidness and lazyness. I blame my mother who dropped a can of beans on my head as a very small child.

Hi @Cro, I do not think they ae Stropharia arantiaca since the stems in that above photo look awfully long. The opthers are usually hugging the ground.
Here is a picture form you kknow where form last fall of the red cpped Storphrias.

THey do not look like any stropharia I have seen.
Without seeing a larger image and the gills and such we cannot id them in theat small image.
mj But they are not what @cro thought they were.

Ok, the spore print came out dark black, with a purple tint to it, does that help at all?

If they were aerugs' you would have seen some bluing especially on the stem/ often rim of cap too, sometime after picking/ before they dried... the bluing on aerugs is pretty obvious... I'd chuck them out, personally.
