Harvest the ones with open veils? Leave the rest? The small ones seem too small to harvest😔help

I would harvest it all and start the next flush. If you leave the small ones then they'll end up needing to be harvested while the next set of pins are still bulking up.
You should still get relatively the same yield since the mycelium instead of using the energy now to bulk those up will use it for the next pins.

Damn, if this is your first go, that is a remarkable effort. That tub looks like a pic from the highlight reels of the pros on here. I'm so jealous!
I have stubborn cakes that have yet to pin. Well to be fair I birthed it 3 days ago. But your already at the finish line. Hope you have a big ass dehydrator.

I would harvest the mature ones and give the rest another day or so, a lot of those will grow considerably.
It’s normal to have a few finish early, just cut them or if they’re connected to smaller ones cut the caps off so they don’t drop spores all over.

Great looking fruits! Print some of those caps you might cut early.

I agree^ i have recently harvested as needed, usually the ones that aren’t harvested will be fully mature in 1-2 days. And I’m not 100% sure on this, but usually your next flush will take a few days, and you want to soak your substrate or heavily spray it, I’ve learned it’s better to fill the tub up with water to let the substrate float. It’ll absorb water as you harvest, and if you heavily mist it, it might leave a lot of water on top of the substrate and it doesn’t seem to fully soak in.
Mono tub dunk. I do this, but I pre drilled a hole in the bottom of my tubs so I can just take off the duct tape at the bottom and let it drain. I’m afraid if I tip it over the substrate will break.

Just out of curiosity, is it bad if they do release spores? If so why?

Yeah, I'd drop a knife in there and cut down everything with an open cap...pretty much the whole left side.

It's only "bad" in that spores are considered to have a disagreeable taste.
