Nearly ready to birth.
    #27013268 - 10/31/20 04:15 AM (3 years, 2 months ago)

Hey everyone!

I think my PF tek jars are nearly fully colonised my question is when I birth them should I soak the cakes for 12/24 hours? And should I then roll them in vermec? or a mix or vermec & brf?

Thanks Shroomers!

Yes dunk them as normal and roll in vermiculite only. No extra BRF.

If they are small 4oz jars I'd do a 12 hour soak. For 8oz+ I'd do a full 20-24 hours.

For rolling, finer vermiculite works better in my experience. Some verm is real coarse and chunky, and generally larger in mass, so it has gravity working against the little scraps trying to cling on to the cake.
