Is it possible to grow from dried/dead mushrooms?

An amazing woman I am pursuing was wondering if this bomb strain of shroom she got can be grown from the dried product. Naturally, being the boneheaded chimp that I am, I have set on a quest to find a way to accomplish this seemingly absurd feat.
If someone had powdery residue in a bag that once had shrooms, is there any possible way to revive the mycellium/spores/tissue? This might be a theoretical discussion rather than a true mechanical possibility.
Can it be done (in theory)?
Has it been done before?
If its not possible, why not? Anyone who knows the science behind it, please explain!

Only one way to find out! Try it!
If you had good tissue then you would probably have a higher chance. Powder in a bag? I would say unlikely, but try sprinkling some into an agar plate.
I have heard of people having success from dried tissue but I cannot vouch for it personally.

I have a friend who put some gill scrapings on a plate from a cube variety she didn’t have a print of and although I was super skeptical and there are still a few contams there is also some really nice looking mycelium. I think after a few transfers it should be clean enough to work with. So I’ll go with yes, but there is a very good chance you will need to work with it to clean up the culture.
