I know i'm late to the game here.. but thought I'd share some finds from the past two days.

I've been hunting for 7 years and lurked on here for a while, so I figured I'd join the conversation finally.
The only actives I've found previously were psilocybe cyanescens back when I lived in SF. Been on the hunt for Weilli ever since I moved back but no luck.. Lot's of reishi and chanterelles though

I find lutes fairly often, but the other finds pictured are my first psilocybe since I've been back. I've been reading and trying to figure out what kind exactly they are, but am having trouble placing them..

Hope everyone's doing alright after the storm, I was in cobb that night and it about scared the pants off of me.

Something told me to take a detour through the woods. Sorry, I know its an actives thread but holy $%*+!! I tossed the lions mane in with the weilii because i only brought one paper bag. When i go to prep it, its turned blue?! Strange phenomenon! It weighed in at 2.5lbs and was delicious. Happy hunting everyone!

Oh damn.. glad I checked here first.. The spore print and greenish tint had me convinced. Thanks for the heads up, looks like it's lute season for me, back to the hunt I guess.

Psilocybes  don't have greenish spores all purple brown. But the gym idea is correct

The spores from what I thought were psilocybe are purple brown, not greenish.

The first pic in the line up is from those, and I was apprehensive/wouldn't eat them until confirmed because they never explicitly stained blue/green, just had a stipe tint. The only actives I've found are the lutes in georgia and psilocybe cyanescens from SF.

I appreciate you guys saving me from my own naivety of the georgia scene

Purple spores are just one of the features that psilocybe have. There are several non psilocybe that have purple brown spores. You've got to look at ALL the features jot just spores.

Another key feature of weilii is the smell. I have yet to find another mushroom that is even close. Once you smell a weilii you’ll never mistake it. I smell all the mushrooms I find. Haha

Before I moved back, to keep it safe I was hunting exclusively cyanescens which were an easy id. I'm still gaining my chops here so bear with me.. Last couple years in GA I've exclusively hunted weilli and ovoids (to no avail), luteofolius and luteus which seem to be around in abundance.

When I saw the purple brown spore print I was too quick to assume they were some type of psilocybe but I had a very off feeling about them because of the other features..

You’ll get an eye for them once you find them and know what features to look for.  Just make a separate ID thread once you think you’ve got em and someone will confirm or ID them.  Keep at It and it will happen.  While I was hunting today it was really hard to spot them due to all the leaves and debris from the storm.  I am sure I passed by some.  Just don’t give up!  And glad that you’ve decided to join in on the Ga actives thread!!

I'll definitely keep the smell in mind! Half the joy is going out searching and I figure they'll find me when the time is right, always keeping hope alive :mushroom2:
Thank you for the warm welcome and understanding, for the time being I'll be appreciating the gym ride while I wait for the weilli boat to dock

Found two more today! They were pretty old but I couldn’t leave this guy. I feel like an idiot for not realizing what the habitat is for the grassy ones.. evidently my patches like to be within 5 to 10 feet of a sewer, man hole, or fire hydrants.

So basically 2 grass patches that I had were fruiting a few handfuls for a time about a little over a month ago and now nothing... still finding a few on the pine/sweet-gum landslides near busy areas around me, but does the wind really suck that much life out of the grass and ground?
