mutation or wrong conditions?
    #27011962 - 10/30/20 11:48 AM (3 years, 2 months ago)

Hello! I am having weird problem with my mushies. Its a second time mushrooms are weird, "caps grow out of stems". (There is a little hole between stem and cap, it separates a little.) I had this issue with previous grow (from different spores), and it caused those shrooms to abort. I am not sure whether it is a mutation, because I have it on 3 cakes, not only single shroom. So is it some kind of contamn? Or is it from bad conditions and I can fix it somehow?

Hmmm, Im not quite seeing the issue. Can you circle the spot you are talking about in Paint?

From what I see, they look fine to me

Yeah sure! It's really hard to see on current batch, but I also attached the image of previous grow with the same problem. This shroom became abort

In my experience you'll always get a certain number of aborts on cakes just because it's a bit harder to keep up FAE and Humidity. I would recommend a little bit bigger tin foil squares for them though.

How long did you soak? How often are you fanning/misting? How are you misting?

Can it be caused by overmisting? I soaked them for 24 hours. Fanning 4 times a day, for 1-2 minutes each. Misting 2 times a day. Spray each cake directly (from the distance, so spray falls on them) 2-3 times each time I do misting. Also it seems that those mushrooms look kinda dark inside, where stem is torn.

With a 24h soak, they will have plenty of moisture. They could be too wet. I would avoid spraying at them, and mist the walls only.

Also it seems that I have exactly the same problem, as described in this thread. And there they said it was because of to dry conditions. I am confused now
