Gotta say I also like the denser, yellower deem as well.  White looks nice and is a point of pride, but it's so light and fluffy that it just burns too quickly.

I prefer my spice to be a little "gooey." I let the goo fully dry, of course, which takes a few days to a week in open air with no fan. But it's totally worth it.  Burns slower, and is more dense so it at least appears more potent.

Here's some slow ass melmac jars knocked up almost a month ago and shook two weeks later..
I think the grain may have been too dry.

What you gonna do with that semilanceata spawn? I love libs. I read workmans write up on it ages ago. Success, but a very poor yield.

This is a cool translucent culture I love

Yeah.. I poke a syringe needle through the flat bag about every 2-3 inches.. start with less holes and just watch it for the first couple days and poke more holes if needed.. after they start pinning, I’ll probably poke a bunch of holes at cake level.  I try to reuse the bag when possible and just tape up excess holes that I can remove when needed.

Pretty simple to set up.. just throw some wet perlite in a zip and poke holes in it

Faht

I use a simular zip bag but have not a passive FAE, my holes are all covered in microporetape. And that require to manuallt air out the bags every 4-6 h. My question is, have you have prevoius success growing in zip bags like that with no need to air out the bags? Troble with lack of FAE when fruiting? Thanks!

GODDAMNIT!

Does anyone here use a sous vide for pasteurizing? It seems like a no brainer but every time I've tried it fucks up... 155f for over an hour... in a gallon bag appox 1 inch thick... how is that not pasteurized???

This was the fastest and best looking PE bag I've had to date... super fast (for PE) and clean from plate to jar to bag... fully colonized the box in 5 days, then cased... casing is just peat moss hydrated to field capacity... wtf am I doing wrong???

Are you sure your spawn is good? Cron spawned to unpasteurized manure last year and it actually did alright. Also did you use a pre buffered product like jiffy mix or is it straight peat? Straight peat needs pasteurizing and should be buffered with lime, etc.

This was straight peat... and im 99% sure the spawn was good. Haven't had issue with this culture before now... last 2 were moderately successful shoeboxes.

Did you pasteurize the peat? Use lime?

It does look super nice when it’s white though. But you can use different solvents for different results if you do the research you find out what I mean.

Lime raises the ph and gypsum acts as a buffer

Also, D3 pointed out in the fail thread that it appears to be coming from a bit of wood... a quick Google search leads to me thinking I didn't pasturize long enough for wood... lol. I have lime but had not used it on this round of casings... noob question? Can I just sprinkle some lime on the case? Lol

I wouldn't use it post pasteurization.

I doubt a bit of wood would cause the whole casing to go south like that.
