Powdered Mushrooms - Did I make a BIG mistake? 1

Interested in microdosing so I ground all 70g of dried Cubensis into a powder to facilitate a more homogenized mixture and make it easier for accurate dosing.
My question: Should I have powdered a smaller portion and vacuum sealed the rest of the whole mushrooms? I'm concerned now that in powdered form it will rapidly lose potency because of the increased surface area. I have it sealed in a plastic container but there is still exposure to air in the empty space. Is there a better way to store it? I've included a pic of the current storage container. Thanks!

just use a ziplock bag or something that is air tight. they can be stored powdered for awhile don't worry.

As others have said it will likely stay good quite awhile. Moisture is the real enemy not oxygen. If you have a desiccant pack somewhere that might be good to tape to the lid or something. Even when I vacuum pack I throw in a 5g desiccant pack as insurance.

Another solution that seemed to work was to make individually weighed chocolates, wrap them and store in ziplocks in the freezer.
I keep dried on hand in mason jars with silica gel packs. Run out of choc’s, do a grind of 40g or so and run another batch. Go as big or as little as you want. 2g in a 1”x1” Mold (15 squares to a mold) works for me. I can get the whole process done in about an hour nowadays.
I read that oxygen does play a part in degradation of psilocybin/psilocin and would rather not risk losing large quantities.
And of course I just re read that you’re Microdosing. Choc’s might not be the way to go. What about a capsule filling machine, capsules, desiccant (silica gel packs) and air tight storage?
Good luck OP

When I make capsules, they start to get really inconsistent if not stored in something air tight. Vacuum sealed or in a mason jar with desiccant packet and stored in the freezer will store for at least a year with no noticeable loss. Beyond that I don't know first hand but I don't see why it wouldn't.

Great advice
As long as it has an air-tight lid, I wouldnt worry about potency loss.

I'd put it in a glass jar with a sealing ring, OP. I think plastic "breaths" (although that's just what I heard, not something I know matter of fact).
Also, you can pack the powder in capsules. Good for easy dosing and storage! (Although you still should keep it in an airtight jar with dessicants no matter what).

Oh and forgot to mention that using desiccant packets are a great idea because its the moisture in the air that is the issue you want to avoid not the air itself.

Stores for long time.
