A couple days ago, my Oculus Quest 2 arrived at my door. Im afraid to open it and use it. Will VR be too good? Will I ever go back to normal gaming?

Ugh...I'm so upset because I bought the Quest in like August, had a chance to sell it pretty much for what I paid ($450, i had been reading around and sensed a new quest so wanted to get my money back so I could be ready for the new one...), I posted on a friday, several people messaged me but I wasn't able to meet up until Monday, when the Quest 2 was announced.
Bam, every single one of the potential buyers went ghost.
I still enjoy the quest I have, it runs surprisingly well stand-alone...graphics are not perfect, very smooth.... I can easily become immersed while playing and playing PCVR games wirelessly is amazing...but I want a quest 2, damn it. I cannot believe they only ran the OG oculus for a year before releasing the next iteration...at a lower price.
Perhaps the price will rebound in the future... As the quest 2 becomes completely integrated with Facebook, quest 1 becomes officially unsupported.
I imagine this will appeal to a good number of people...
anyways please try it out if you haven't tried VR before its pretty badass!

Damn bummers man. Might have to drop the price waaaay down I guess Ive tried to sell a number of things on CL and Im having no luck at all. Im pretty much given up on that Quest (little pun there).
The Oculus Quest 2: Wow guys! VR is INCREDIBLE! I finally opened up the box and tried it out last night after some gentle dabbing sessions. I played some demos like Beat Saber and Space Pirate Training. Both were incredible! The passthru "mixed reality" Guardian boundary set-up was really cool too. I wish there was a mode with just that. Its essentially AR but with a VR headset. So freakin cool.
My favorite was Space Pirate Training. That is some next-level gaming! WOW! So fuckin cool!
I am trying to get my Link cable set up but I realized that my PC does not have a USB-C port as the motherboard is a 2018 model. That sucks. I tried a USB-A Male to USB-C adapter but it didnt work. Luckily, theres another solution which is a PCIe x4 card such as this one: https://www.frys.com/product/8951353?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG&requestComingFromSearch=true
I checked my Motherboard and it has a spare PCIe x16 so Im good to go. Looks like Im taking a road trip today to get this part. I really hope it works with this card *crossing-fingers*

I really enjoyed playing Space Pirates Trainer. However, even after playing that game, which has no FPS movement, I still got motion sickness after about an hour. VR is great, but you cant play it for long periods of time. Short playing only.
Still glad I get to experience it thou, its such a unique experience

I'm waiting for one more generation of improvements on VR before I take the plunge. We are RIGHT on that tech cusp of solving a lot of the issues it has.
Some people say you get more used to the motion sickness stuff the more you use it, but since I don't have VR I can't speak for that personally.

I never once got motion sickness...but my hand eye coordination gets pretty messed up after a couple hours playing.

Lucky!
Im there with ya mndfreezey. Its just the beginning of the VR. The top of the line Valve Index is the best and supposedly very smooth with little motion sickness. From what Ive read, its the low refresh-rate (frame rate) that causes most of the motion sickness. But I would bet its also because of the 3D movement seen in the VR world that causes it too (at least for certain people).
