Flax has a very high oil content, this and a "soft" protien make it mushy if cooked too much. As others said, great as a suppliment, it has lots of trace minerals and fatty acids you won't find in any regular grains.

My favorite substrate.....

2 parts ground brown rice
2 parts ground finch seed
1 parts ground flax seeds

mix well then use standard PF verm/water ratio.
