Washington state Am I too late for Fly agaric?
    #27007885 - 10/28/20 08:49 AM (3 years, 2 months ago)

I recently found some muscarias in the woods near my house!
Unfortunately for the past 4 days I have seen little to no change in their growth. Our lows here are around 40 degrees with highs of 60. Is it too cold for these beautiful little things to continue growing? It’s oddly cold for this time of year in the PNW

Well I just took another walk out there this morning and I’m thinking I stumbled across
(Amanita regalis) any thoughts? They appear to still be growing so I’m sure it’s not too cold just yet.

They're hearty for the cold but they probably won't continue growing unless it rains again, which of course for days I could go out looking for them, it's not raining

i found like, two...a couple days ago. growing randomly

I have only searched my immediate area as my schedule is very tight right now but I have noticed they tend to like flat paths or bases of pine trees and don’t want to grow around heavy slopes. Is this because spores are more likely to be washed away?

The Amanitas are out in full force this year in Seattle. More than I remember from past seasons, in fact.

I lived most of my life in pierce county and have never come across amanitas. It wasn’t until I moved out to thurston county to get away from the city that I discovered them. Probably the most beautiful and fascinating mushroom I have ever seen. I’ve been obsessed with them ever since.

Hey I'm in the Portland area and have been searching unsuccessfully so far (mostly looking at trees where they may grow), I am curious of experiencing the Fly Agaric and it's effects on depression, particularly interested on the effects if may have on one's consciousness when lucid dreaming. Perhaps they only pop when you are ready for it.

Well I dried the one muscaria I found in the above pic and took a small bite (yes I did not prepare it correctly or boil it) but I wanted to test the effects of Ibotenic Acid in a small dose.

As far as depression within 45 min to an hour the mushroom effects resembled xanax quite well for me. Hours prior I had anxiety and bouts of panic attacks which I get every day throughout the day. 45 min in and I was extremely relaxed with 0 anxiety and felt really great.

BTW Ibotenic Acid really frickin sucks.... That part was fairly painful and it was a small dose as well. I'd hate to experience that stuff when eating a full cap! Will be making it into a tea next time.

also I would like to add, Hours after the effects of the mushroom dissipated I had very vivid dreams. I can still actually remember my dreams in fairly great detail which I never can. And again this was just a very small portion of a medium size  dried cap.
