Worthwhile habitats to hunt p. cyanescens in UK?
    #27006784 - 10/27/20 05:30 PM (3 years, 3 months ago)

I'm a seasoned liberty cap hunter and usually head up to mountainous/ moorland type of environments to find this type of mushroom. I'm really anxious to find some wavy caps though as I hear they are widely distributed across the UK. Where should I start looking for them?

Any tips will be very much appreciated.

I think woodchipped beds in parks and such are best.

"Look in mulch beds and wood chips around parks and well manicured areas. They have rarely been found growing in alder forests and under blackberry bushes and salal in the wild."

Not sure about the wild habitat for them but they are known to fruit in massive amounts in certain public areas with mulch. If you find a good spot you could potentially haul 100s of lbs so definitely worth the effort even if it takes you a long time.
