Its always worth looking! Usually you want to wait 3-4 days for a better chance but you're not gonna find them if you don't look

Found one blue boy today.  Should start picking up again soon and the rain in the middle of the week will really help.

As to looking around dead pine trees and the like, I have done a lot of that and not found a damn thing.  Everything I've found has been in grass and mulch in relatively recent construction / development areas.

Side note, has anyone had luck transferring butt ends into grow jars?  I found some really potent monsters and would like to continue the line and the spores did not drop like I wanted.

Glad to hear some optimism. They say we're going to get a TON of rain Wednesday and Thursday sooo fingers crossed.
Do you just park at the pool or what? Surely its okay to just go on a hunt. I've seen the I brake for mushrooms bumper stickers lol

Thursday or Friday should be a good time to hunt.  But like Mental said, 3-4days after some good rain is your best bet.  Even if they were to pop up tomorrow, they will still be around by Friday and well into next week. The second round of rain will bring some pretty good flushes.  But I try to check any potential spot near by daily if possible.  You never know.  I’ve had some pop up 2weeks after a good rain, and I’ve had some pop up the next day after.  Consistency checking potential spots is the key.

Thanks for the shared wisdom Nitro. Ill keep looking every chance I get and keep an eye out for prime habitat. Pretty fun lurking in the woods anyways and have found some other interesting things. Teaching me to slow down and practice patience as well.

Found 5 fruits today, ~20 yesterday, and 2 right after the last heavy rain(4? days ago). Seems like conditions are primed and ready for hurricane zeta.  :goodluck:

Dang, nice finds! No luck for me today. Barely found anything honestly. Guess I'm going to have to find some good neighborhoods.

For all the Panaeolous hunters here, when could we expect this season to come to a close? What time of year have you found your last fruit(s) for this genus?

I love hiking in the woods but they are soooo hard to find - and many that look similar.  Those are nice! I would have totally missed them.  :mushroom2:

Keep looking, and they will magically find you....  But yeah, I have had better luck in new-ish neighborhoods.  And make a mental note of where development in areas with the right conditions is going on now for checking the future.  This rain might really help too.  :goodluck:

For me personally I can find cyans up until the first hard freeze in December if it hasn't gotten too cold by then.
