Well if you must have ALL the specifics, I was in the Lancaster California area. I am not from the area, so fucking forgive me for not properly identifying the desert region. I was working crew on a porn movie. There was a lot of sand, cacti looking shrubs, little black beetles, and MUSHROOMS... So fuck you there are no mushrooms in the desert, cuz they got em there. My question was of simple curiosity, since I felt as ignorant as you to just blurt out that there is no way in hell a mushroom could grow in the desert.
I was out there for an hour, and highly doubt exposure wsas the reason for me seeing these specemins.\

Well, the tubeworms around hydrothermal vents don't exactly breathe sulfur. It's actually a symbiotic association between chemosynthetic bacteria and the worm. The worms are basically a great big culture vessel.. The bacteria take care of the production of organic compounds and the worm provides a place for the bacteria to fluorish. Pretty interesting actually..
