Shaggy Mane Possible Contamination

Hey,
My first shot at some shaggy mane doing BRF tek. (My new heating tek wasn't totally dialed in and I think they got too warm for a sec? current reading is 77.5F)
The mycelium looked strong and even. I was waiting an extra few days to be sure they are solid all the way through and started to notice some red in some of them. (I now realize I shouldn't use quilted jars cuz they just make it hard to see inside. But I'm posting as good a pics as I can.)

There is not much info about that. My jars are still colonizing, it is not yet on the stage when it is thick-white.
But we do know that you can have some liquids in oyster jars and it is fine. So try to fruit it, when you open jars, try to smell it.

Thanks for the reply! Just started fruit conditions on them. Threw out the ones with obvious red once birthed. The mycelium is tender. The first one i put under water after soak before dunk the mycelium just tore off in a straight line where the water hit it. Granted I was using the wrong flow, but that hasn't happened to be before. Gentler flow worked fine from appearances.
I guess general question follow up is what happens if there is some contamination I didn't see or notice? I'm thinking I won't eat any of them just to be safe. But is it obvious when you accidentally fruit a bacteria contaminated cake?
I'll post how they turn out.

Bacteria dies when you cook it, but the excretions taste and smell awful. It looks sus of contam to me, but I can't say for sure, it might be wet spot rot, which can happen to over saturated substrate. (too much water)

I don't have a great sense of smell, but I can smell fresh mycelium and that's all I smelled. The red smudged easily and was clearly not normal from my limited experience so far. The lack of smell is what worries me about the others where I didn't see red. And it makes me wonder if it was a mold instead of bacteria.
I had hoped to try these fresh, but I ya I guess I'll just cook them up and see if they are nasty haha.

This is by far the only informative thread on this forum about shaggy manes:
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25164871
Once spawn was ready it was added to compost. Some people add some soil from the place the mushroom grow, it seems it needs some microorganisms to start pinning. Are you planning any of this?

I think my jars are ready to spawn. They behave in a similar manner to yours, producing some liquid in several places where mycelium became especially thick.

Is that shaggy mane? Do you have experience getting it to fruit indoors? The brfs I decided were going nowhere and broke the cakes up into RR's recipe of peat moss and verm. It's colonizing well. But everything I've read so far (much stemming from the links in this thread above) sounds like everyone can get to this point, but getting it to start fruiting indoors is the hard part.

It is shaggy mane. I'm still doing selection from various areas of the plates. This particular one is from plate with no pronounces features.
I will pasteurize compost then mix it with spawn. If it colonizes successfully, I'll try to just fruit it. If nothing happens, I'll take handful of soil from where they naturally grow and sprinkle it on top to bring in some bacteria or whatever is in the soil.

This is another jar but without any thick white areas, although agar wedge came from the same Pasty plate at the same time.

Huh, ok, very cool, keep me posted! I read that adding casing layer before pins can make it just keep colonizing, and actually to add casing AFTER you start to see pins (not sure if they mean primordia or actual pins). So I think that's what I'm gonna try. I'll post pics.

Ok so, I'm not sure if I am just cultivating mold at this point and I notice this looks way more colonized in the pic than I realized... I have not done bulk substrate before and not sure how shaggy mane is supposed to smell... It's also unusually warm where I am for this time of year so I am considering transfer to outside. Any input is appreciated.

I need few days before I open my jars and spawn. I still don't have compost. But I'm sure it must smell pleasantly like other mushrooms.

Mycelium looks thin, same as in my jars. How does it smell?

I think I just got worried by the look of it since this is my first time growing it. On second whif I think it's fine and mushroomy.

I just spawn my first jars with shaggy mane and they really smelled not as pleasant as oyster. I would even say almost not pleasant.

It is so fast, while I usually see oyster mycelium grows on the 3rd day, this one was visible next day and in 4 days it almost engulfed the whole surface.
