Plastic PP5 Quart Jars for Spawn?
    #27004459 - 10/26/20 11:34 AM (3 years, 3 months ago)

Hello,

Can these plastic containers be used for grain spawn? We have a mason jar shortage here and cannot find any mason jars anywhere. It says that they’re airtight and microwaveable.

Thanks

as long as they are pp5 plastic they will be good for the PC. Look similar to the mudda bottles

I've seen these used with no problem but certain containers have problems with the lids fitting after a couple PC cycles.  Some fit tighter,  some fit loose AF and are unusable.  I tried a similar PP5 deli container and got the green weenie.  Maybe you'll have better luck.  Only PP spawn containers I trust are the Ziploc brand (specifically) twist n locks.  Even the off brand of those (PP5) wouldn't screw on after a single cycle so you can imagine how snap-top containers can be iffy.  Generally with the deli containers,  the larger the container,  the more likely you are to warp it.  Not a rule but the smaller containers tend to be a tiny bit thicker.  My 2 cents.
