First time shoebox tek.
    #27004341 - 10/26/20 10:24 AM (3 years, 3 months ago)

Mixed grain spawn and substrate together in 6qt tubs 1 week ago. Drilled one 1/4 in hole in the top of each lid. Placed lids on and they have been in my closet ever since. Opened livs today and I see this.

Do these look ok? I am suppose to place them in marth box today. I do not see any funny colors just all white.

I have them in a marth. Humidity set to 79%-89% can seem to get it about 90.

I also have a 8 inch 740 cfm fan clearing the whole room that is set to turns on/off for an hour. The fan is not directly hooked up to the box but it is in the same room

They have been in my Martha box now for about 10 days. 79-89% humidity and Temps 70-76.

Does it take this long?
Am I doing something wrong?

It still looks pretty good. I think have a little more patience and you should see pins soon.

thanks for the input

someone said it looks like i may have cobweb mold. so i panicked hopefully i didn't mess anything up

i have a total of 9 tubs inside a green house martha tent. temps are vary but a/c is keeping it under 76. humidity is sent at 75-89%. i have a fogger system set up

i have a total of 9 tubs inside the Martha
3 Ecuador
3 cream Lex Luther
3 Koh Samui classics

each tub looks about the same they all have what looks like a thin layer of what i would call fuzz across the top. i did dig a little down in 1 of each of the tubs and found great mycelium growth underneath the top layer

so for each strain I am trying something to see what happens

tub #1 is control. I am leaving it alone
tub #2 got a spray with some hydrogen peroxide
tub #3 got hydrogen peroxide and i covered half of it with vermiculite

I am going to check on them in 2 days and see if there is any change. i am hoping the H2O2 doesn't hurt the mycelium growth

any input would be great

These tubs have been in my Martha box for 3.5 weeks just started producing this week.

Any suggestions on what I can improve? I seem to have alot of side pinning.

Humidity levels are 89-75%

If the tubs are in a martha, try to gently remove the entire substrate from the tub and pull the liner down to let those side pins breathe. You want to avoid side pins, but once you’ve got em you might as well let em get as healthy as they can. The pics in my signature are from my first ever grow where I had to do the same thing. And if you can get humidity higher, that’d help a bunch.

Also, you made a post when you put them in the martha 14 days ago, not 3.5 weeks. Have some more patience, two weeks to get pins is not a super long time

Sorry math was way off on the date.

I think 91% is the max i can get it to... idk possi ly higher. What should the range be? 75-95? Should it be a tighter gap?

As close to 100% as possible, definitely over 90% if you can manage but higher is better. Get an ultrasonic humidifier, it’ll get there easily. If money’s tight you can check thrift stores, they’re pretty regularly available, I got two big ones for like twelve bucks total

im using a DIY fogger hooked up to a humidity sensor. i will have to see how high i can get it. so i want it more around 90-100%

also the martha box is in my cannabis grow room, the ventilation is hooked up to a 740cfm inline fan that clears the whole room. im sure its getting plenty of FAE

Turned the humidity up to 85-91%

We have lift off.

So after I harvest what do I do? Just let it be?

Yep, just keep the conditions right and they’ll keep fruiting. Nice fat stems you got there, what variety are these?

Looks great, nice flush. Try to clean a bit more of the substrate off before drying though, that’s inflating your weight and just isn’t as fun to eat as mushrooms

I just have them sitting on wax paper on some shelves next to my exhaust fan for my grow room.

By exhaust fan I mean an 8 inch inline fan pulling air out of the room.

I’m asking because they don’t look fully dry. Dry fruits are usually dark grey and you still have some pretty white stems. They should be dry like a cracker, easily snap when you bend them and crumble if you squeeze them

I would say about 2 inches.

If you go to page 1 there is a better side picture you can see the depth

So in front of a fan blowing humid air. They're not going to store well being only partly dried.

No no. I have whole room ventilation. Not my fruiting chamber ventilation. So this fan is sucking air out of the room @ 740 cfm.

My whole room stay pretty low humidity.

There may be people who say otherwise but IME shallow substrate produces short fruits. I wouldn’t worry about it too much as long as they feel pretty solid
