I've Wondered If It Was Possible To Find Caerulescens In Texas, I Don't See Why They Wouldn't Fruit In East Tx. I Visit East Tx Sometimes & My Eyes Are Peeled For Fungi So Maybe I'll Find Some One Day.
As For Cubes I Haven't Been Hunting In About 2 Weeks,(I've Been Flounder Fishing) But We've Been Getting Some Rain Lately Where I Am & I've Seen A Few Good Finds From Around The Houston Area, So I Suppose They Are Still Fruiting.
I Believe It Has Something To Do With The Temps, They Haven't Dropped That Much Like They Usually Do In October. So My Season Probably Isn't Over, I've Been Doing Some Cultivation Too, I Need To Get Back Out In Them Fields.

How’s cultivation coming. I thought about it at one point, but probably wouldn’t work well with my home situation

I Only Made 1 Shoebox This Year, Freaky Genetics Off Of Some B+. Mycelium Formed On The Caps & Made Them Look Like They Were All Wearing Hats.
Took Some Prints, A Good 3 Flushes In The Box, Then I Moved Them To The Ground Outside & It Took A Month But They Started Fruiting Again.
Total Weight Dry Was Over An Oz, I'm Too Busy To Trip Right Now So I Give/Trade Them Away, But My Friend Took .4 & Felt A Mild Trip, Only A Good Body High, But Atleast They Were Potent.
Edit: More Potent Than The Wild Cubes I Find, I've Never Felt Anything Less Than .7 With The Wild Guys, So For Him To Even Feel Something At .4 Of Those Says Something.

Hey everyone, new to these forums. I haven't seen any weilii in about 8 years and am feeling the need to go on a hunt. Just wondering when we can expect to see some popping up with the recent rain and has anyone had luck near little river in cherokee County? Lots of dead pines on some of the trails.. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Shroomery and welcome to the GA Actives thread. Yes! I would recommend starting to read this year's posts and you will learn so much! Three are many hunters here finding them. You'll see many habitat and insitchu pics. Happy reading and HAPPY HUNTING!

Cherokee is a great (& the original) place to hunt. For the most part, we stick to county & soil type as opposed to naming specific places. Not likely anyone will confirm a specific watershed or location.

Thank yall for the replies. I figured as much.. didn't want to name specific parks. I have been doing some research here in the forums but figured I would join in on the conversation. Going for an adventure this morning and maybe this evening

I spent a lot of time hunting riverbanks for weilii. After that frustration, I’ve learned to focus more on ground that’s sloped, eroded, and/or recently disturbed. Proximity to water is a plus, but not a requirement.
We had a member a while back (NGaHunt) who hunted the dead/dying pines and had incredible results. To my knowledge, not many of us find in the dying pines anymore. Anybody still hunt the beetle kill?
While hunting riverbanks, utilize the plethora of species to practice your identification, and also take note of gatherings of deadwood for ovoid season in the spring.

Well no luck in the pine forests. The ground was surprisingly dry underneath so maybe not enough rain? Seems like the best conditions are pine trees with near by grass and lots of rain. Found a lot of specimen so that is encouraging but nothing with that smell that I remember.

Hey yall, found these about three weeks ago, and yet to find any since then. How frequently should I be checking my spots? Also, it seems that drying them decreases the potency a lot, is this true for yall?

Drying is the only way to preserve them so unless you plan on eating them out the ground dry them. As far as potency loss goes it should be negligible unless you are not drying them crscker dry and storing them properly.

I've never noticed any negligible difference in potency between fresh and dry, I think its more we eat the fresh ones, have one hell of a time and then don't wait long enough before we eat the dry ones and have a precieved potency loss. I get the same experience on dry as I do fresh if I take a good 3 week break.
