Laminar Flow Hood Build Question

So recently ive finally made the decision that it is time to build a flow hood. Now i'm trying to go the cheaper route and find a blower used on Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace. "What should i be looking for in a blower. Most used blowers on there don't have a CFM rating nor do any of the people selling them know how many they are. What are other distinguishing factors to look for in a blower fan? Should i be looking for a certain size of blower (like literal size ) certain width and length? Is there maybe another kind of blower that are sold used often enough to be able to actually find one? These are the 2 choices ive got for filters that dont cost an arm and a leg. Filter 1 Filter 2. One is a 99.97% efficiency. The other is a 99.988% Obviously would prefer the later but there is a limited amount of those. The other has over 100 sold so I assume they have unlimited supply. Unless someone on here has some hidden gem of a canadian filter site to purchase from. So I'm trying to not have to spend the insane prices companies want for blowers. The blowers literally cost more than the filters on every site I've seen. At least ones powerful enough for a flow hood did. Meanwhile there are hundreds of ads for blowers for $40-$100 of all different sizes. Just no dang rating on any of them..

Hey, you probably have a solution by now, but i went with a large squirell fan, estimated the cfm by comparing to fans if similar dimention. Once i have picked a hepa filter i was sure it would provide enough air i found that it was pushing too much air even with a pre filter installed infront of the fan so i installed a second ore filter before the fan and its pushed a solid amount, borderline too hard but this will reduce over time.
So i reccomend being safe amd going big second hand and then preparing with multiple pre filte options.

That second unit is damages and fancy as fuck.
.97 is FINE but most people freakoutinside and eventualy buy a .99 like I did. Don;t cheap out on the build. Build it right Save up teh extra 150-200 go with a dayton squirrel andt be cheap your gonna regret it like i did just build a normal non cheap route TRUST ME.
send me your postal conde and I will help you hunt down a filter with best price and specs
I have a dust collector powering one of my cheap flow hoods https://www.harborfreight.com/13-gallon-industrial-portable-dust-collector-31810.html?cid=paid_google|||31810&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=&utm_content=&gclid=Cj0KCQiA5vb-BRCRARIsAJBKc6JtuW_COlOTZkaoYFzjC19JxTuAoriSp92lG_2XhxVxjiDGqrMx0W4aAnvDEALw_wcB
It can only run about 1 hour and a half and the motor shells like its gonna discover fire. so the blowers by dayton are meant ro run ALL DAY so yeas DONT SKIMP! If you do skimp, just dont.

If you want the cheapest route to a blower try calling up a few local HVAC service folks. I called up several and one guy was willing to give me the old furnaces he was replacing, he gave me two within the week. The blowers were way too big but you can restrict the airflow without doing any damage to the blower - i used cardboard. its not fancy but its cheap.

Yeah this and you can also get a fan speed controller. I also got a cheapo anemometer to help me achieve laminar flow easier.

Cheap anemometers especially the kind that look like a computer fan usually have extremely poor accuracy at low speeds like those of a flow hood. Most wont even measure less than a couple hundred feet per minute which is well over the max speed of a hood
Usually you need a hot wire anemometer they cost more though

I must've lucked out then. It jumps in increments of like 12ish fpm but it gets me really close. Double checking with a lighter shows me its working close to well enough. $30 on Amazon, can't complain.

What about using the blower from an old swamp cooler?

Those usually use an inline blower, from my research I've read those are not recommended and you'd want a squirrel cage blower.
