My favourite subreddit is moderated now

for the last 2 years r/fasting has been devoid of mods, it was the wild west with regards to posting whatever you wanted and I loved it, sometime within the last month mods have appeared out of nowhere, I think to become of a mod of a modless subreddit you just have to message Reddit staff and they can appoint you
in the last week or 2 I have had two interactions with mods, and IMO they are kinda noobish to fasting, I have seen them both give out information that I think is kinda deleterious
my first experience was a mod sticky-ing his electrolyte post, in the OP post he says not to take himalayen pink salt because it contains no iodine, and the trace minerals are over rated, and he listed potassium bitartrate before listing potassium chloride, making the bitartrate look superior
now I dont expect any of you to know what the Snake Diet is, but it has developed a cult like following in the fasting community since its inception about 4 years ago, Im not on the FaceBook, but I think the SnakeDiet FB page is 2 or 3 hundred thousand strong, basically in the first few years, Cole (the founder) preached not eating and drinking a salt water concoction called Snake Juice (which I find humorous because I could say people were drinking the snake juice, instead of drinking the kool-aid) although the last 6 months its focused more on exercise then fasting
snake juice is a extremely popular electrolyte concoction in the fasting subreddit, even among those who dont follow the snake diet, that sub is how I heard of snake juice and the snake diet, so I thought anybody who lurks that sub for any amount of time knows what snake juice is
so someone in the comments of the electrolyte post commented if the snake juice is no good because it calls for pink salt, instead of iodized salt (the potassium chloride called for in SJ is iodized though, so its a moot point) and the mod responded, he never heard of snake juice or the snake diet, said pink salt bad, not to drink snake juice and that Cole probably sells pink salt
since snake juice is usually considered the de facto electrolyte drink on that sub, and its what I drink every day, (including on my 42 day fast and was fine) I sent in a novel in a PM
a couple things I mentioned in the PM that potassium bitartrate should be mentioned last in his post as it should be taken as a last resort, it contains some carbohydrates, and no one made it in mind of people taking large quantities of it, in stead people should be taking potassium chloride if they live in a country that sells it, as it was designed for people to dump a shit load on their food, and its iodized
and that pink salt (along with other ancient sea salts) are probably the best option for salt, the trace minerals might seem like a joke when you are sprinkling a pinch on your food, but when you are taking 10g-15g of salt a day, they probably add up to something significant, and the iodine is a mute point if you are taking the potassium chloride like you should be
I mentioned how I dont know how he runs the fasting subreddit without knowing about snake juice, that Cole is definitely not selling pink salt, and he dosnt really care about money that much since he lost his million in the stock market, the guy is a minimalist by nature, he dosnt even sleep on a bed
I was kinda hoping for a debate, but the mod was kinda cool, he just thanked me for the information, I just dont think he lurked the sub for very long
my second interaction I see the mods point, but I still think she was wrong, there was a type 2 diabetic who was going to do a long fast, so I told her to drop the meds, because it will cause hypoglycemia taking them on a fast, that not eating will keep her blood sugars under the renal threshold, then the mod chirped in, gave me a warning for telling someone not to take their meds, and told OP to continue taking them, which I think is even more dangerous, at best OP might get shaky and dizzy and realize their sugar is low and eat some glucose (thus ending their fast prematurly) at worst they will try to power through it leading to seizures and possibly death, what I could have done better is inquire what meds they were actually on, as sglt-2 inhibitors only moderately reduce blood sugar and can compliment a fast due to their insulin lowering effects, but I assumed she is at least on metformin which most T2 diabetics are, and that blocks the production of sugar in the liver (gluconeogenesis) which you kinda need if you are not eating
this mod was still obese (She had her stats posted in her flair) so I also think she might be kinda new to fasting
I want my unmodded sub back

You are not a doctor, and you shouldn't be telling people to stop taking their medication...regardless of whatever your newest book says.
It's a good thing that moderator was there to chime in. She may have saved that girls life.

tbf the safest option is to discuss it with your doctor telling someone to stay on meds on a fast could be as dangerous as telling someone to go off meds on a fast, I dont think that mod saved anyones life, the mod did the exact same thing as me

plus another downside id like to mention is most doctors dont know about putting diabetes into remission through fasting, too many doctors would just print out the American Diabetes Association guidelines, and before 2019 they condemned a low carb approach stating diabetics should eat a minimum of 75g carbohydrates per meal, now they say there is emerging research showing the use of low carbohydrate diets in improving glycemia
if you can find a low carb doctor they will probably have a understanding of fasting and diabetes, theres even one a 40 minutes drive from my house, but I dont drive so im stuck with my in town N.P., shes almost cool, she likes intermittent fasting, even knew who Dr. Fung was (sorta a celebrity nephrologist (so he has lots of diabetic patients) and has reversed most of their diabetes)) but freaks out if I say I went more then a day or 2, I need some bloodwork done soon, so im going to have a lot of fun when I tell her I fasted for lent this year, when she didnt like me doing a few days lol
EDIT:
I forgot to metion cause I was going off on tangets, when the ADA guidlines dont work, the doctor will be happy to increas your meds, cause they are focused on controlling the blood sugar instead of the insulin resistance

I don't want to sound morbid but based on your eating habits or lack of as well as your diet of mineral supplements I sure wouldn't be surprised if you end up in a coma, or worse.

This sounds like exactly the reason FOR having a moderator.
No one on a forum should be telling anyone to stop their meds.

maybe a argument for having mods, but a mod who dosnt address hypoglycemia on a fasting subreddit seems like a poor choice

I think you are just "salty" for not being asked to mod

Well the nice thing about Reddit is you can start whatever subreddit you want. If there are enough people that see things the same way you do there should be no trouble getting it fairly active.

but that would make me a mod, then id find myself forced to take action and censer peoples posts, not to mention watch what I say

im done with that sub, I just unsubbed, the moderator just told me if your blood sugar is under 70 you are hypoglycemic and are going to seizure out, I think thats crazy, I think anyone who fasts longer then a few days is going to have a blood sugar under 70, he better go post in every thread and tell the OP they are hypoglycemic and need to eat some carbs
