Heading out to Costa Rica (Mushroom PIX!) 2

Traveling these days is the biggest PITA ever! Nonetheless, I'll be reading posts and maybe posting some mushroom pix from Costa Rica next week. Going on business, but as it is rainy season, I was thinking I'm likely to see some interesting fungi in my spare time.
Anyone have tips on where some good photos might be taken??
Later!

To travel to Costa Rica, you need a health pass and PCR test proving you are COVID negative within 72 hours of departure or boarding the plane. Probably safer than the supermarket. Plus, I have a carry-on bag full of N95 masks!
Hoping to spot and photograph some wild-growing active shrooms for my collection.

Sorry to take so long to post these mushroom pix, but I ended up getting COVID-19 - no doubt while standing in line in immigration with a cast of thousands for multiple hours in Miami awaiting re-entry into the USA. Hope the wait was worth it. Nothing active found, because the most promising fields filled with cows and horses had grass as high as mid-calf and were surrounded by barbed wire fences. Consequently, I couldn't judge whether it was worth it to try and trespass.
Anyway, here's some of what I saw:

Cool!....
Those "cup" mushrooms are also my favorite out of the bunch lol.
Was it your first time to Costa Rica?....Cool place? Nice vibe? It's one place I've considered trying to go at some point later in my life.
Bummer to hear about ya getting covid, that's wack about having to be around that many heads while trying to re-enter the country...I don't wanna de-rail the thread that direction but I am curious how it impacted you? The severity of it, the extent of your symptoms, and how long it lasted?

No, not my first time, which was in 2005. Roads have gotten much better since then! The "vibe" is well know and even has a long-standing catch phrase "Pura vida" or "Pure life." It really means just enjoyable life. If a tico (Costa Rican) asks you how are you? an acceptable answer is "Pura vida" - as in, "I'm enjoying life." I plan on going back in another month (after or between Christmas and New Years) to stay for the winter...maybe longer.
My purpose in going THIS time was to look at homes to purchase. Real estate is cheap by comparison...as are almost all commodities except for gasoline. I'll probably rent a house come December and stay until April or May at least. I've been "working from home" since March, 2020, so "home" can be Costa Rica if I want it to be. As I'm now past 67 1/2 I've applied for Social Security which ALONE will give me an excellent life-style, to say nothing of what I've garnered through investments and obsessive saving over a lifetime. So, yeah, I'm done with living in the USA. My goal for this year is to NOT see a single snowflake.
As far as COVID: I've had worse colds. It started with a low-grade fever of 100.4 (very unusual for me - I normally run 97.7 on our home thermometer) and three successive nights of night-sweats where I had to get up and change the bed linen. Then a dry cough (still have it), headache, and the FEELING of shortness of breath but no ACTUAL shortness of breath (still went out for runs!), mildly runny nose. I DID NOT have any fatigue, and didn't slow down any activities. FWIW, I'm 6' and a little bit, and 185lbs, run, hike, and from time to time (1x/week) lift weights.
I HAVE totally lost my sense of smell!!! Can't smell hardly ANYTHING - coffee brewing, or pizza, soap, shampoo or shaving cream. I CAN smell coconut (how weird!) and orange peel. Very little else. Waiting/hoping that will resolve. All in all, I'm glad it happened. I now know that I'm one of the lucky folks my age that experienced a mild case. My only risk factors are age, and being a male. I have ZERO illnesses in the past and no co-morbidities of significance to COVID outcome. I should have antibodies good through at least March, and with a vaccine on the horizon...
BTW - masks WORK. My wife and I stayed home together after my positive test and we each wore a standard surgical mask. The only other precaution was that she slept in a spare bedroom. She never got it.

NatureBoy, I like your plan, and may do something similarly away from home when I get a grip after the world stops festering with covid and right wing insanity.

It's funny how the plan changed. I spent 8 days with a real estate agent (originally from Texas, so an ex-pat himself) and almost no time "vacationing." The plan was to buy a house, cash. Then in Miami, while standing in line at immigration waiting to re-enter the USA, I chanced to speak with a guy from Miami who told me he kept a powerboat in Costa Rica that he was unable to get to or use for SEVEN months because the country had closed the borders to ALL Americans. Meanwhile, it had been hit by lightning, and there was nothing he could do.
That made me realize that I could be in the middle of a purchase (I had even met and spent 2 1/2 hours with a "notaria" and "abogado" - very accomplished real estate attorney with 3 additional years of training after law school. Given the current, dramatic increase in COVID here in the USA, Costa Rica could close the borders again, and I'd end up owning a house I couldn't get to to occupy!!!
So that's why when I go back in December or January, I'm going to be looking for a house to rent and to open a bank account (I stupidly failed to do that in November) while I get my residency status as a pensionado. Once IN THE COUNTRY, I can't be thrown out. I'm going to buy a laptop (actually hate them!) on or about Black Friday that I can carry down with me - and when I find a place in CR, I'll buy a docking station and twin monitors and I'll be set. Here at home I have a killer desktop (custom assembled for me by my daughter's future husband)and there's no way I'm giving up my dual monitors. I'm addicted to them and the efficiency they provide for my kind of work.
So, yeah, it's a plan, but plans get changed by this COVID shit!
