What does this look like to you guys.... Im pretty concerned.  There are loads of soft blue one that i harvested from my kit, but as you can see some of them are perfect, others are dingy and blue.  What is also strange is that the blue ones were growing right next to the healthy looking ones.  All my kits were like this.  Did i let them grow too long?  Is it the C02 or a bacteria?  IM CONFUSED haha, thanks for the help.

Make your own thread next time. They're bruised. Search more on bruising. They're fine and still edible.

This helped me alot... I had some on one of my cakes and I pulled it and got rid of the cake.  It was fine yesterday and all of a sudden a small hairy grey patch showed up...

Hi there,

I've been trying to figure out how to post to ask a question so please forgive me if this is the wrong way to go about it as i haven't been able to figure out another way.

I am trying to diagnose this or these contaminants. What is wrong with these?

This is what a health or healthier fruit of this strain should look like i believe.

Please, any input would be appreciated as i have not managed to find anything similar to this in the archives.

Another 'Thanks Workman' here
I got one tub out of three that are putting out a really vile smelling Coprinus.
You saved me and other members the trouble of IDing this contam.
Great work on this posting, easy to understand, yes I must have incompletely pasteurized my 3rd Hpoo/straw/verm/gypsum batch, I was indeed concerned with killing off the good. happy the two large tubs seem OK, I made the smaller one showing Coprinus because I ended up with extra substrate, and imagine this had higher % substrate from the middle of a bag./
Another 5shroom rating 4 U.

I have some strange thing happen in my bulk substrate bag. The spawn run was very good with nice looking mycelia. When I transfer them into sawdust bags, at the beginning, everything looked okay. Many small white mycelia spots showing everywhere and growing nicely, but when these white mycelium circles met each other, they didn't merge, instead, irregular shaped  spaces with darker color formed between those circles with clear boundary. Is this normal? In addition, some spider web kind of mycelia can be seen growing on the background of the mycelium layer (the third picture). Are these contaminations?

Any idea which green mold starts as a Super white mycelium then turns green? How dangerous? Is it Trich, penecilium, or Aspergillus?

I've seen this too, but don't know the ID. It starts as white dots, progresses to a circular growth pattern, then as soon as it gets a foothold creates a pretty solid mat, and then eventually blossoms into a green fluffy mess.

There is an old wives tale that says women would slip them into their husbands meals if they suspected they were drinking 😅. Obv just a tale, but there are actually a few mush's out there that don't react well with alcohol in the human gut. It also depends on each individual too. Lobster mushrooms are known to make you nauseous if consumed with alcohol too but Ive consumed them with it and felt fine while witnessing someone else barf their day up. Neat!

So if I try to grow mold, will my fav mushrooms contaminate my blocks instead??

Very helpful post. This answers a question a buddy and I had about what happened when some weird flute shaped looking mushrooms grew out of his sub instead of cubes.

Dear all,
Hope you are well. A person show me these mushrooms that were from a grow kit. They were bought as B+, but they look very different from the B+ I've seen until know. What you think? Mutation, contamination? He told me that in the begining, by mistake, he sprayied the cake with alcohol 70% by mistake - do you think it can explain?

Thank you

I would think Ye Goode Olde PF Tek would be the most fool-proof method for a new grower.

I thought so, but I had a lot of issues. I can attempt another try with my, now, two failure experiences, but I do not have a lot of chances. I'll give it another read through.

Should I junk the three bags, all five, let them sit?

Sorry, I have no advice for you on that except that whatever you have there is probably not a contaminate mushroom, which is what this thread is about.

A grow being contaminated by another species of mushroom is pretty rare. Usually it's bacteria, mold/mildew, or yeast.

So, my pictures do not show a mold or bacteria? Are they safe to keep growing?

I don't think I'm qualified to tell you that. I would suggest you start a new thread in the Mushroom Cultivation forum, and select Contamination as the subcategory.
