Off Season Weraroa NZ pinning?
    #27001395 - 10/24/20 02:52 PM (3 years, 3 months ago)

Found this popping up in some woodchip from a Weraroa spot, the season is over in nz but we did have a cold snap for a bit...

Do they look right for Weraroa pins?

I've never seen a Weraroa pin, let alone a mature Weraroa.

However, these don't look like they're pouch fungi, but more normal looking mushrooms with stems and caps.
I've seen similar looking Mycena pins, but let them mature and we'll have a better chance at identifying them.

Yeh I’d say not many people have seen them. I found some last season which is where this woodchip is from. The smallest Weraroa I saw in the wild looked a lot like a baby closed cap sub, I.e it was a brown cap. Can’t wait for next winter to come along and see if the patch blooms!
