Alright so to tackle crippling depression and PTSD, have any superfoods helped anyone?
I am currently having a raw blueberry and strawberry shake. I think I put about two cups of berries in...
But anyone have really useful foods to incorporate into a diet that helps with mood? I sm not talking nootropics or supplements, but food food
Thanks in advance guys

Do you have a juicer? If you have one, I really recommend making kale juice. It's very bitter so you'll probably want to mix it with other fruits and veggies. Veggies in general will boost your well-being more than fruits although there's nothing wrong with fruit. Kale shakes will leave you feeling vibrant - also, a little bit of ginger goes a long way and carrots as well.

I think I have a juicer. I will try to find it. I think I could mix some kale and carrots into my fruit smoothies, as I use frozen fruit for that, but I think I should switch to water for the medium used. I'm not sure I want carrot and kale mixed in with milk
Thank you for the suggestions, i shall be hopefully making these by tomorrow

Hi, I have both crippling depression and PTSD too.
I make smoothies daily. I am on a limited income so I can't buy a bunch of individual superfoods. I buy Orgain Protein with Superfoods and Manitoba Harvest Hemp Yeah Protein Fiber to add to my smoothies. I also add stuff for my joints but I don't know if they help the brain, MSM and Glucosamine. If my pantry has extras like cacao nibs, chia seed, flax I throw them in. Usually my smoothies consist of mixed berries (frozen because budget), bananas, maybe cherries, some greens like broccoli/spinach/kale, and if I am feeling super sassy I throw in one jalapeño or Serrano pepper. I might try an all green smoothie next pay period, I will edit this then. The brand of device I use is a Ninja blender thingy.
I don't know if it is really doing anything, as I have had smoothies all summer, but I think that having smoothies makes me feel like I am and so the act itself boosts me. They are also good to have in the fridge when it is one of those days and I am feeling too lethargic to cook or really eat. I hope that makes sense, I have trouble communicating sometimes.
Also, I know you said no nootropics or supplements just food. However, about a month ago I began taking some amino acids that help with neurotransmitters or something scientific I asked Google about and my prescriber was on board too. I chose to try these out rather than add more medications for now. However, I cannot share any positive outcomes at this time. Primarily because I am so distractible, forgetful, or all the fun stuff that comes with mental health, that I forget to take them. But if later down the road you want to look into them they are Taurine (brand NOW) and L-Tyrosine (brand Drs Best). There is also, L-Thyosine that you can take at night for anxiety but until I can remember daily to take what I have I don't want to waste money.
Anyway, I hope your journey leads you to healthy mind and body. If you ever learn anything that would benefit feel free to DM me.

Eggs, I don't feel as mentally sharp when I skip my typical two egg breakfast.

Wonder if that's related to vitamin b.

Honestly I think it might be something obscure like choline, selenium or perhaps zinc.
I don't think it's the B vitamins as when I take B12 supplements I feel anxious.

Sorry about the late reply, I have been working a lot. I am definitely going to continue the smoothies, they have been working well.
I do already take nootropics, I fell in love with them after feeling like they would be a good idea post microdose. I do need to order more noopept but I do take quite a few to stimulate acetylcholine production.
Grateful Dead-- I love eggs. I am going to have more of those, more often. I remember them working well with my nootropics.
