ID Help (P. Ovoid or pluteus lookalike maybe?)

Habitat: Central Ohio, growing out of the dirt in a wooded area next to a walking path. Picked from among leaves, I suspect there was wood underground there but didn't check and when plucked it broke apart pretty easy (no mycelium was picked up with it)
Gills: brown, seemed roughly adnate? not 100% sure on the attachment because the cap fell off the stem as I picked it.
Stem: 7mm thick, approx 11cm long, light grey / brown, fibrous and dry, mostly hollow. Fibers run all the way up the stem, makes it easy to split
Cap: 6cm across, grey with darker edges, dry with a slightly roughish texture, edges are pretty brittle and break easily.
Spore print color: Very dark, brown tinted when viewed from some angles under light but pretty close to black
Bruising: Seems to bruise to the color of the edge of the cap, not really seeing greening / blueing just grey-ish
Other information: scent is pretty typical mushroom smell, like a slightly more earthy button mushroom. Found near some similar looking but probably different mushrooms (no dark ring around the edges of those... I suppose I should have gotten more photos :P )
I don't think this one is active, but when I first saw it I thought I recognized it and saw greening so I figured I'd try to get it ID'd. Upon further inspection I see no evidence of greening or blueing. Curious to know if I got enough info here!
