Spikes!! Is this aerial myc?

Hey y'all, pretty noob-ish grower here. I got these weird spikes on my BRF cake. I think it's just areal myc, but I would love another opinion? The spikes are growing on what was some in vitro pins.

That happens when they are over saturated with water for too long. It is a way for them to regulate surface area to get rid of the excess water.

Mushrooms are always mycelium. Always. 

They do become cannibalistic though but that is not what is happening here and is a completely different story.
