Hey all,
Found these in fields grazed by sheep in the midlands UK.
Pretty confident there all libs but would be great if you could take a look over them and let me know if there are any imposters.
Much appreciated
Thanks.

You definitely have libs but also cant see close enough to spot out any ones that wouldnt be libs.

I can take more photos if required. Not sure how id take close ups without taking lots of photos though. Are the images not in focus when zoomed in? I just had a look and they look ok to me, I am using a phone though.
Let me know if better photos are needed.

I think you have 2 Paneaolus in there and maybe 3, all in group #4.
Page 4- Sixth from the left. Page 3- seventh from the left. I think are a probably a Panaeolus species.
Maybe the fourth from the right on page 1, but I think it’s more likely a lib.

As far as photos are concerned, in general the closer up the better, The focus isn’t the issue it’s that the camera is only focused on the outline and most superficial of detail. The characteristics that are often most important in order to differentiate between similar looking species are the ones that can o ly be seen in close up photos. Most people do take a ton of pictures, whether they are taking them for purposes of identification, whether they are requests, or as examples. Even if they are just being taken for purely aesthetic/artistic rather than scientific reasons, regardless of the subject matter, most photographers take multitudinous photos, in order to get any at all that are able to communicate the intended message.
That being said, in this instance, your photos are pretty much satisfactory, but that is because there isn’t very much in question, because they are a particularly easy mushroom to ID, for a exceptionally large number of people.

I'm quite sure the one on page 4 was a lib, maybe I'm wrong or maybe the photo doesn't do it justice.
I see what you mean about the one on page 3 though the stipe looks straighter than the others.
There in the dehydrator now though. *sigh*
Am I right with my understanding there are no toxic mushrooms in the Pan genus? Any harmful ones?

First Image under number 3, first one right under where the number is written. Maybe not a lib, but you seem to have the identifying down, because the rest look brilliant. Maybe that one just slipped in.

ambc- I’m not seeing at all what you are seeing...hoping to learn more about libs can you elaborate the ones you pointed out seem to match for libs imo and don’t seem to look like pans at all. Thanks for spreading the knowledge

Really I can’t be sure those ones have stems broken off short so it’s difficult to see any real detail in a pic of that size and roundish caps which lots of libs do anyway. But if they are pans it is not a big deal so it’s kinda a non-issue for any reason other than being good protocol to ID anything you plan to eat 100%

Thanks for the input all, its all good learning to me being new to this.
Kicking myself for putting them in the dehydrator as would have liked to look at the two questioned in more detail.
I suppose my last question is should I chuck them because there are a couple of potential pans in there? There are a little over 10.5 dried grams there so would be a waste, but I'm more interested in being safe.

Why though? There are no known toxic Panaeolus species, you're safe.

I know, I'm just being over cautious is all.
Shame I didn't get chance to look over the questionable ones again. I looked at each mushroom closely before posting pics and was adamant they were all libs. Would have been good to either prove myself wrong or confirm and post close up pics.
Thank you for all the help as always anyway guys. Great community 👍
