Lovely pics!
Just had a thought - does anyone on here ever eat their libs fresh - as soon as they're picked - or is it safer to always dry them first to get rid of any potential larvae that they might be hosting?
I'm a newbie and was just wondering about this.

They look like libs to me. Quite fresh ones, too.

I found a couple too in Derbyshire. I assumed they were immature. Is that not so?

I ate mine the day after. They were already starting to dry out naturally just drying on the windowsill. Unfortunately a few of mine were rotten and had maggots. They worked fine though.

Thanks Digimite.
Ah that's interesting. So is it fairly safe to eat ones like that then, does our stomach acid just kill off all the bugs etc?

Any help please, I'm totally new to picking my own libs but I've researched enough to think I know what to look for. It just seem I'm no having much luck finding any. I live in Suffolk and would really appreciate some advice on where to go or even better...be shown by someone that does! I'm really keen to pick some medicine for myself. I drive to Northumberland regularly so anything along the A1 is fair game. I realise people want tp keep their hotpots secret, just need some help. Please pm me if you're able/willing to help. Much love

Yes, they are better fresh rather than dried. Only need to dry them if you want to keep them stored.

Nothing beats eating them fresh on the mountainside.

I'm in Kent and have just started finding them this past Monday. So it's the start down here. It just warmed back up to 18C here though, so I'm not sure they'll be growing again for a week or so.
Also there was a literal herd of hippies in the field at the crack of dawn, so that could be why I'm struggling a bit lol.

Sorry bud, not Liberty Caps. There are plenty of brilliant pics in this thread of the ones you're looking for. Spend a bit more time on research and that will save you time when out foraging. Best of luck!

Great conditions in Scotland’s central belt at the moment. Plenty of rain has lead to many flushes in my spot. More than the eye could see.. Picked these in about an hour this evening before the sun went down.
What about those two monster ones? Reckon they are safe to eat? Tempted to chuck them in the bin as I’ve never seen them that size before...

Glad to see the North is still packing some heat. And in my opinion those monsters are defo libs, they're just full of water. (If you dry them, prepare to lose a lot of size! )
