Thinking of picking up this AA 41.5. What do y'all think?

It's been for sale for a few weeks and I'd need to drive two hours to grab it, but seems like a decent deal, especially if I can talk him down to closer to $200. He's asking $300.
What do y'all think?

Tell him it looks like its not well taken care of. I wouldn't pay over 150. Its easy to keep them looking like new

Considering they are on back order till feburary or march....
Personally I'd replace the gauge, plug, vent pipe and vent before even thinking about bringing it up to pressure.
Not everybody cares about ugly as long as it works and is what you need and how much you value your $300 vs getting shit done.

Thanks for the advice. Suppose I'd need to estimate the cost of replacing those and work that into the offer price.

If you already own a presto stove top I recommend getting a 25,50, or 75x. Really hard to find a 75x but 25's and 50's are common. Having 1 or two electric PC's along with a stove top splits up your workload nicely IME.

I use two prestos and a 25x they both fit 10 jars. I start the 25x first and have my two loads in the prestos done before the 25x cycle finishes. But it does make it real eazy to do 30 or 60 jars even after a work day.

Yeah.. getting stuff done after a long day can be challenging, especially if you work nights and youre rusty, like me. 100% picking up a couple of those X models in the next few months.
But check this out.. just came across it at the thrift. It's like 2ft×21"x15". $30.

It's around 50 USD for those parts on the Mazon.

Quick questions for an experienced grower..
I haven't got my logistics and timelines worked out yet, so I need to let a good bit of WBS sit for 7-8 hours before I can PC.
I feel like they should be fine, but wanted some opinions.
Thanks.

That’s fine in my experience.
Sometimes I get busy and I have let prepped grain sit in jars for up to 72 hours before PCing. I try not to do that but I’m sure 7-8 hours is fine.

Yeah.. I got everything done for my masters. It was a real shit show pulling it off in a studio apt... while working nights.. 10+ hours a day.. But if Filthy can do it, I know I can. Ended up just getting a used 23qt Presto and 1800w tabletop double burner. Process wasn't streamlined at all and I ended up prepping and tossing something like 2 bags of wbs, plus using two techniques for hydrating. The masters sat for a few days before I could get my SAB built. Knocked up 36 masters and hunted down waaay too many jars without thinking everything through, i.e. g2g'ing into bags instead of jars. Rusty rookie mistake. Thanks for the input though, dirty.
Anyways, onto making some plates with a PESA print Filthy sent me (thanks, Filthy!) in preparation for the next grow and/or backup if my masters fail.

Seller sent me more photos and it looks as if it has actually never been used... Picking it up tomorrow. Go big or go home, right?
Might sell it in a few months to fund a 75x.

Right?? I need a flowhood, so going for that first I think. I hate working in an SAB.
Congrats on the 75x though. Good stuff.

Fuck yeah! Cheers to running a straight proper op with the best gear. Makes ya feel like a real mycologist, yeah?
That's my goal, to have good-best equipment, running everything tight, clean and efficient. Not too much stuff, but lacking nothing.
I've done enough second hand shopping and flipping to know it can be done at a fraction of new costs, so I take my time and work with lower quality stuff while I look to upgrade. Reselling what I have to fund upgrades.

Just wait until you get into the X's my God it's a blessing I can set my timer to on and let my 25x run until steam then close the valve and set the timer to 4 hours and walk away because the temp setting don't need to be touched go-to bed wake up the next morning to a cooled pc and vacuum packed bags no contams... Purge my pc with a alcohol soaked rag and start knocking them up. I run 4 5qt bags at a time on the 25x the 75x is rumored to fit 6 bags.... That would be 10 bags a night! No mess or fuss...
That's 70 bags without baby sitting a week. Or if your a jar person that's 25 jars a night. I'm able to run 12 bags a day with ease on a 25x. I have two prestos and don't use them anymore except to boil water.
For agar buy a instapot 8qt..... I use that for all my tools and agar work... Just set it and forget it's all times and you have a warning option were you can come back a few hours later to 160° temps it keeps it nice and to the point of pouring the agar. Also nice to have it for my syringes instead of firing up a pc.

I'm glad to help any member on the form I have baby-sit damn PC's for years when I bought my 25x I almost cryed and the cooking timer made my life so easy. Cooking grain sucks it was actually the worst part of this hobby in my opinion. The 25x made it the most easy.
the instapot made me love agar again I mean been warming setting is so nice. I can fit 3 beakers at 200ml each and have them ready to pour in 2 hours. You set it to meat setting and walk away it does go-to 15psi and I run it for 40mins then come back when I'm ready vs. watching a stupid pc and hoping to not over boil. I like the no pour plates but with agar and a flowhood no pour is not my go-to. I also like pouring it hot af Around 180 stack plates leave to cool no condensation don't wrap them though until cooled they won't clear if you do.
