Sweet & Spicy Bliss Burgers

Ingredients:

2.5 lbs. 93% lean ground beef
1 tbsp rubbed sage
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/4 cup water
8 slices of deli sliced w. american cheese
8 sweet hawaiian hamburger buns

Optional ingredients:

Sliced tomatoes
Sliced or fried onions
Sliced pickles
Hot pepper relish

Preheat the oven for 300° F

In a mixing bowl combine ground beef,  sage, garlic powder, and onion powder. Make sure sage is completely mixed in. Beef fat is a pain to clean off my hands so I use gloves when I mix and form. I like to put the beef into the refrigerator for about 10 minutes in order to stiffen it back up. Making it easier to work with.

Form 8 equal sized patties by hand. If you are like me you will want to weigh them. 2.5 lbs. of ground beef makes 8 x 140 g patties. Roll weighed out beef into a tight ball. Press the beef between the palms to flatten. Press them and form them to the circumference of your palm.

Place each patty onto a shallow baking pan. I like to use foil to make it an easy clean up afterward. Again, beef fat is a pain to clean. 😆 add a 1/4 cup of water to the pan. Bake for 20 minues. Pull the pan out of the oven. Drain water from the pan. Top with white american or your choice of cheese. IMO, white amercian is the best melting cheese known to man. But a second best is a vermont sharp cheddar.  Place pan back in the oven and bake for another 5 minutes.

Believe it or not the sweet hawaiian buns really top these burgers off. Especially with a teaspoon of hot pepper relish that creates a sweet & spicy bliss. I also like to add a slice of tomato and a few slices of homemade old fashioned kosher dill pickles.
